I just installed the GPS Navagation Map software update .... at a "special price" from Jeep of $110.00.
Took 30 mins to install, had to enter lots of data to obtain software key.
Local streets are still not updated. Really a poor value.
I am disappointed.
My car runs on a Google operating system (Volvo), and the maps are updated monthly for free. Google has had the local streets online for over two years.
This is my 9th Jeep vehicle, and it seems customer service/money grab gets worse with each corporate take over.
Not to loose the reason for my post....GPS update is not a good deal.

Totally not worth it regardless no matter what vehicle you own…. Use your cell phone for directions/navigation.

The Nav is nice when you don’t have cell signal…..and maybe adds some resale value.

If some roads don’t exist (for whatever reason)…. Just keep driving and it’ll reroute you. Easy peasy….

When did you order the update, and what version were the maps they sent?

I ordered an update for my 2020 a couple years ago for $99. The maps were not as up to date as I hoped they would be, but I ordered it mainly to get the Uconnect update.

Thanks for the review.
I quit using the Jeep navigation after comparing to my Iphone and other third party mapping and offroad software because it wasn't as good as the others and would send me on strange out of the way detours. I keep getting the offers to update but ignore them.

Google map via carplay is way better. I only use factory nav when i don't have cell signal.

Ten years ago, Porsche was charging $1,000 for map updates on the navi. I’ve always refused to pay for any map updates but do pay the $100/year for my Tesla premium connectivity. Only because they are the only manufacturer that does infotainment right.

Im on a long trip right now and downloaded the off line maps from google maps onto my phone. You dont need cell service and you can stil do searches. Works great.
Not a fan of the jeep navigation.

I don't know what makes people pay for GPS software updates on their vehicles when they have Google maps available, operating seamlessly on the vehicle screens. Actually, I think I do know why people do it.

I would just leave well enough alone. If it is not broken....

With regards to paying for additional services, I already pay (too much) for XM and they stuff commercials into the feed. So, in order to keep from being ripped off by a whole lot, I use OnX Offroad with pre loaded maps (because I get to places where there is no cell signal) to navigate. It integrates well with Android Auto. I throw the Magellan in the bag as a back up..

Don't waste your money on the updates unless it is broken.
