On the Polaris ?

I used mine yesterday to pull a very large limb to me, that fell into another tree. It was from a very large tree that I had to cut down by my shop. I also used ot a few weeks ago to pull out a small tree that keeps growing back next to my house. It came out with a lot of it's roots this time, so hopefully I got enough to stop it this time. That 12k Badland is tough.
That was the original plan hooked to the hitch. I just never got around to going back there to do it. Now if I get a winch out of it I may be inclined to get to it sooner. When you get readyu top do the, a direct pull usually won't get them out. Instead, connect to the post as low as possible, then run your winch line over the top of am inflated tire 9old spare if you have it) then pull. That will direct the pull to strait up and they usually come right out
Yeah, it's some exercise to have to do all of that. I've gotten in hung upon my wooded trails and had to do a mile round trip to get the Polaris. I use the Hell out of the ATV winch for various things. I even use it to run a 44 inch brush mower up and down the steep banks once a year or so. Way better than weedeating like a friggin' mountain goat.I get bold every now and then when cutting grass near the pond. When I get caught in the mud I have to walk back to the house, get keys to the truck or ATV. Then pull out the mower, park the truck or ATV and walk back to the mower. I figured out that if I carry a strap I could spun the mower around a bit and free it up. The Bad Boy was heavy and near impossible to pull by hand. My old Ariens I can get out with a strap around my back.
I would say you had enough preload to wind up the rope nicely.
Mowing by a pond is a pain isn't it. We get stuck all the time on our pond luckily we have yet to drop in deep so far. Much better than turf tires. I would get even braver and surely need the winch to get it out. These are the best upgrade I put on the Ferris. I get stuck a lot less now than I did before, and I can comfortably do steeper grades.

When I first bought the place I was using a MF super 90 to cut back the brush around the pond. It hasn't had brakes for 20 years or so. Knowing this, I would back to the edge let it roll back while finding a forward gear. One time I had about half of the super 90 wheel in the pond.Mowing by a pond is a pain isn't it.
