I love the simplicity of this build. Nice looking Rig! What's the roof weight limit capacity of the ARE?
thanks...it works real well.. I am old and like to drink so a roof top tent aint fun when your hammered and nature calls lol..it think the roof can hold 200 +-??? they make one with extra reinforcement that I think can hold at least double that if not more.

Dog sleeps in cab and I sleep in the bed with tailgate down. Wind and rain is not an issue.

It's the CX classic with the framed rear window. 2 rear window latches for better seal and security. Overland windows on both sides and the front window that opens and hinges down for ease of cleaning. I've had it all over Anza and death Valley with no issues. Very little dust gets inside. I have a seal on the tailgate.

Speaking of dust… I noticed a lot of it gets under my bed cover, even with two layers of foam gaskets. I believe it comes from all the bed hole openings.
Anyone else having this concern?

Not anymore. Seal up the holes and gaps.

I used this for the tailgate “hinge” area:
https://www.ecoological.com/gapshield.html

I then used some weatherstripping along the sides of the tailgate opening.
I used different sized automotive panel plugs for various holes. And then some rubberized material to cover the big holes around the tie down loops at the rear. I also laid a bead of silicon along the seams that run the length of the bed. Very minimal dust enters now.

FYI, cut it a little long so that it overlaps the ends and gets trapped by the tailgate when closed. You can kind of see it in this pic.

You seriously need to look at the RSI Smartcap. All stainless steel but is still light and you can put I believe 700 lbs on top while stationary. I have one ordered that should be here in a few weeks. Lots of accessories as well. Only drawback I see is they only come in matte black or white in the commercial version. When I priced it out, it was only about $500 more than the fiberglass one.

@MattK did a good write up; I agree with trying to use a tailgate seal like Gap Shield at the bottom, that’s a little cleaner. The bottom corners of the tailgate seal kinda funny, that’s what MattK’s pictures fixed.. plus all the bed hole openings?
