That's apples to oranges, who cares. Can they go down a jeep trail on the side of a mountain and not come out the other side with their fenders all beat to crap? LOL
I know.

Wild anyone would want to fit plywood in a pickup truck.

I definitely drive up and down mountain sides more than I carry lumber.

Well, you're right, lol but not because I have not done it. But don't worry, I'll be making a trip to Washington state towards the end of June this year, I'll get you plenty with the gladiator mojave, because we'll be hanging out in Montrose CO and there are so many badass trails around there man what a fun off-roading place, we'll be going through utah, fun fun, and up to Wash state. and then like 2 weeks later making the return trip though whatever off-roading fun we can find.

Because I'm not one of those who buys a jeep to not use it, I for sure use it and am not saving it for the next guy. But I will for sure get some videos and pics of the kinds of jeep trails I'm talking about. They are a blast. And I recently got an osmo 3 so it'll be some great footage, and a movmax mount ( https://amzn.to/4qiAgib ).

Oh I will get you some great footage. Have to wait till june.
But some of what I do have from locally, enjoy.

if that's the case just buy yourself a ram 1500... lol
The point of buying a jeep....is to go off-roading. :like: 🤔

Well I sure as heck didn't buy a gladiator to haul around plywood. I mean cool it can do it, but it's not the purpose and there are far better trucks for that stuff.

I needed somewhere softer for the wife to sleep in on the trails at night. :CWL: Dunno what you fellas be hauling around... :CWL::CWL::CWL:

Besides my '22 JT , I have a nicely modded '14 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel, complete thereon soft ride suspension, and 37s. It might go where my JT will go but when I go to the store I take the JT for parking. A tape measure says they are close to the same size but sitting in them says no. But,, if I had to choose between them the Ram will win because I just don't go on tight technical trails.
A Ram 1500 4x4 nicely modded is probably a better choice for most as the trails it won't do with the JT are probably trails you won't do with the JT. Just my opinion.

I'm going to the auto show for the rest of the week starting tomorrow, I'm sure I'll be amazed by all the Hemi Chargers, Gladiators, Cuda's, V10 trucks, etc.

When I bought my JT, I came out of being in a two door JK for six years. I had wheeled nearly coast to coast over those six years. Stuff a full-size truck did not stand a chance doing without a lot of damage.

I thought those trips would continue, but when it became apparent I wasn't going to spend tens of thousands of dollars to equip the new truck for that, well it trailed off. My Jeep friends continued on with heavy wheeling, and I guess we went our separate ways.

I figure I / we would lean more into camping and 'overlanding', but as my relationship progressed with my someday wife - I realized that wasn't what we really had the time or interest for.

Nowadays, I go on an odd and end camping trip sometimes, travel forest roads, etc. The rest of my time is 'homesteading' and hitting NASCAR races and perhaps getting more info fishing.

That's the boring real life story.

But the Gladiator still gets it done well enough, and I don't want to start over on payments again - so until she just comes up short - she'll be around.

OR, I end up selling my Camaro and replace it with an older full size, crew cab, 4x4 truck, and it meets the gap and gives me another useful vehicle around that better aligns with my future plans.

Have my cake and eat it, too.

And I will come here and complain until then 😂

Mine get's extensive offroad use.

Nevertheless it's a 48k vehicle we still owe 30k or so on, so I'm not too interested in smashing it against trees and rocks until it looks like it belongs at section 8 housing.

And most people owning one feel that way, totally fair.

It's definitely limited in the woods by being as long as a bus 😂

Yea, like a 6 foot bed isn't great at hauling 8 foot long things... who would of thunk it.

Well, if I had a six foot long bed, and nearly two feet of tailgate, it would be pretty awesome. Like, basically perfect for the casual lumber trip. But the Gladiator is only at 5 feet, or roughly 6.5 with the tailgate down. That would work well, too.

Full transparently, space between wheel wells aside, I'm not doing myself any favors with almost two feet of toolbox in a five foot bed right now. So, even with tailgate down - I'm back to five feet. Notice I just stacked on top of the toolbox 😄

I make do, though.

Drag the trailer when I don't.

Yeah, I'm not trying to destroy it lol

Just that there are trails the jeep is what you want. The Gladiator handles jeep trails just fine. Can get high centered on some stuff, and some of the mountain jeep trails have some tight turns that can get sketchy, but for the most part it does great. It's not something i get to do a lot of. That's more of when we go to visit family and get to goto those places.

Here in Houston, we mainly have forest trails, most are pretty tame, and very long beach running.

So what was the purpose of buying a butt terrible truck at gas milage, tiny bed, to do some plywood hauling? Seems like a waste of money to run it just for some street stuff.
