Anybody have any knowledge of these lights? They've got what looks like Louvers inside the lenses.
Spotted on ebay and I like to old school KC lites so I might snatch these, clean em up and use em. I'm intrigued in the apparently stainless steel bodies as well

Unless you are doing a period-correct build, there's no reason to invest a penny in old light technology. These halogens will draw a massive amount of power and still be as effective as some glowworms in jelly jars.

Get yourself some nice modern LEDs that use 20% of the current - and they will actually produce usable light.

You are correct, the bulbs can be upgraded but I've always loved the old school KCs. I was shopping around and found these. The stainless caught my eye. The louvers(?) inside the lense are interesting and I'd like to know more about em, but I plan mostly using the bodies with more modern internals..
KC offers a drop in gravity light that "should" fit these housings.

Man those look like they are straight off my jeep from the 90s Wiring these things were a major PIA back in the day at 17 years old no idea and no youtube. I swear they were just called KC Hilites from 1997

I had a few different sets on my XJ in the past they get water inside then start rusting out. 100w or 120w bulbs definitely had to run on relayed switches, I think I'd get a year or so with a set or second replacement bulb. ? to think the covers cost more than the lights.

I wired up a set without a relay once.

Also had a set replaced under warranty for rusting through.

Those remind me of old school big rig fog lights. They had louvers in them.

Never seen KC’s like those, and I’ve been running them since 1981.

So I was hoping to drop these KC gravity inserts into the bodies and mount them on the cowl.

But with the louvers they are obviously meant to be used as fogs.
SO I could get the wide 40 version and use them as fog lights but then they'd be best on the front bumper....
I guess It's back to ebay to look for another set of stainless steel KC bodies for cowl spots....
