something else that can help if you don’t want to go with the Rokblokz is to find some wider side steps. I currently have the mopar performance side rails… they help with keeping stuff kicked up on the sides. Eventually I’ll get Rockslider engineering steps as they are much wider and so my wife will be able to step in a lot easier.
Maybe I’ll get lucky and find one eventually on the marketplace close to me.

Mine has had the Mopar side steps on it since the first week and while they helped a little, I had to go to the Rokblokz to get them to stop completely. Living a mile down a gravel road just threw too many small rocks for the steps to stop them completely

I went with the Rokblokz on my Mojave and it stopped the chipping immediately.

I'm sorry to hear that your new truck was damaged by the road construction. Here are some answers to your questions:

  1. A paint pen with the matching color is a good option for small chips and scratches. You can purchase one from a dealership or an automotive store. Make sure to clean the area first with soap and water, then dry it thoroughly. Shake the pen well, then apply the paint in thin layers, letting each layer dry before applying the next. It's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific pen you purchase to ensure the best results.
  2. Yes, protective paint tape that is color matched is available for purchase online. You can search for "automotive paint protection film" or "clear bra" and select a product that matches your truck's color. Be sure to measure the areas you want to cover and purchase enough tape to cover them. When applying the tape, it's important to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully to ensure proper adhesion and a smooth finish.
In addition to these options, you could also consider having a professional automotive detailer or body shop repair the damage. They may be able to provide a more seamless repair or suggest other options for protecting your truck from future damage.

Mud flaps and my overland steps have saved my paint so far (2 years). Zero chips even with some wheel poke on my +12 wheels. I have the WT mud flaps. I know most people want rock sliders but I don’t off-road much but the steps took a beating last time I went out and they held up. Just some scrapes underneath them.

The RSE power steps stick out almost as much as the Overland steps - those and the Weathertech mud flaps have done wonders for my wife's JLU Rubicon. The spray on the sides is almost non-existant now where it was almost a perfect pattern along the sides - and against the hinges.
No chips on my JT Overland - both have had their stock steps and the mud flaps. Almost 3 years on the first one and no chips or marks from gravel roads and so on.
