So, I decided to hold off on buying 37" tires for my LE and wanted to start with 35" first and I have had my eyes on the Black Rhino Armory wheels - https://www.blackrhinowheels.com/truck-wheels/ (Mainly looking at "Armory" wheels)

I am having trouble picking the right sizes for these wheels and a set of tires (35") that I should be purchasing for the Gladiator LE. I would really appreciate it if someone with off-roading experience can help me with the sizing and the brands of tires that would be good on-road as well as off-road. I have been reading the thread on tires and I have some idea of what kind of tires I want...

Thanks in advance!

I ordered my Black Rhino Armory wheels 2 days ago so I have them:
Black Rhino Armory 17x9.5 5x127 (5x5") -18mm Gun Black Wheels

I will be ordering General ATX 35x12.5r17 tires when I have a firm delivery date.
I went with an AT tire instead of a MT as I am primarily on the road. These will be aggressive enough if needed, but good road manners.

Thanks a lot for your response!
So, when we go to 35" tires - do we have to stay at 17 inch rims or can we go bigger? Is there any advantages or disadvantages for off-roading with that? I am thinking of using the stock wheels and tires when I drive on the road and use these second set for off-roading... But, I am still deciding on the tires... The other tire thread has a lot of options and I am going to shortlist some of them and then decide... A lot of them were saying that the Milestar Patagonia M/Ts are a great set of tires ... so I am leaning towards those tires... I initially wanted to go 37" tires since I would have dedicated off-road set of tires, but apparently a lot of gearing, axles, etc needs to be upgraded and stiffened if we decide to go 37" so I am going to stick with 35" until I know what I am getting into :)

You can always go bigger, but remember ESPECIALLY for off-road, the bigger the wheel, the less sidewall on the tire.

That makes sense. I have decided to stick with 17" Black Rhino Armory wheels and 35" tires. Still on the fence between the Milestar Patagonia tires and Duratracs, so many choices :)

These articles basically say a good rule of thumb is the wheel sizes should be half the tire size...

My Gladiator set are going to be Milestar Patagonias for sure. Check out LiteBrite on youtube. They love them.

Read this:

and this:

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/wheel-weights.15867/#post-231814

also my 2 cents, don't go bigger than 17 inch wheel. More sidewall less wheel all day long. The other thing to think about is if I were to get a dedicated off road set of wheels and another for daily my off road wheels would be steel and my daily aluminum.

Steel vs Aluminum
But really only needed for super rocky trails like MOAB right? If mostly a DD and some trails (dirt/moderate mud) wouldn't 18's or 20's be okay?

Those links def helped. But, the thing with Stainless steel wheels is that there are nothing that I could find that look as good as the Black Rhino armory wheels for me :D So, I think I will go with Black Rhino 17s and the Milestar Patagonia MT 35" tires for my second off road pair and keep the stock LE wheels and tires for driving around town.

I'm on the fence with the offset, definitely not questioning the design as I think they are spot on for a JT. The fact that these are pushed out 2" more than the Mopar Beadlocks makes for a tough decision. I might do these in an 18" since I already have 35" Ridge Grapplers as well as 35" KO2s I could use on the Mopar Beadlocks.

On another thread, I posted:
I couldn't figure out why the tires sidewall looked so small, should have known.
Per EAW:
"2'' LIFT, 35'' NITTO RIDGE GRAPPLERS, 20'' BLACK RHINO HARD ALLOYS"
A close up pic on their site shows these as 35x12.5r20
I removed the link as it's now dead, appears to be sold.

Glad my Black Rhino's are 17s.:like:
