I was out in Ocala today on the way back i saw a JT with doors off and mirrors attached to the hood latches.

I looked them up.

Anyone here have them? Are they stable to actually use?
I had a mg long ago with fender mounted mirrors and I like the idea for the gladiator if they work

I have a cheap pair of mirrors for the doors off now that don't really work anymore ( too many branch hits. ) so I am looking for a new set of mirrors.

If they are steady they eliminate the blind spot that exists on the door mounted mirror.

I see. I know they aren't what you are asking for, but I've been running these since last summer and have not noticed any issues with blind spots. They can be used horizontally or vertically, attach to either the top or bottom of the main pull handles, don't vibrate, and are much heavier duty than I expected.

Regardless, good luck with your search!

Edit: Just saw you have a '24. May not be compatible if the description is correct. I'm gonna leave the post up anyways for anyone else who comes along.

When the Corp saw fit to send me on an all expense paid trip to Okinawa Japan in the early 80's, all of their cars had the mirrors mounted on the front hood or wheel wells. There was no such thing as a blind spot and on you didn't have to crank your head to see traffic on either side. Ingenious idea actually!

Funny thing, I searched "Japanese hood mounted mirrors" and I believe I found what you were looking for...

I have cowl mounted mirrors (given as a gift, never used since the doors stay on) and I've seen many people with these.

I saw a new mirror option that mounts with 2 heavy duty suction cups. You can put it on the fender or hood or anywhere. For jeeps without doors, or towing mirrors.

Sooo. Guessing no one has tried any fender or hood latch mounted mirrors. I am going to give it a try. Can't be worse that what I use now.

@Gvsukids i don't know about you. But if I didn't have the blind spot monitoring system I would have run over a few Miatas. When they pace in the fast lane on the hwy about 1/2 a car length back from me. I cannot see them. Too low and too close to be seen from the side mirror.

If I move the mirror to see the blind spot I can no longer see the left area on my rear quarter which is not covered my the rear view mirror.

Suction mounted. Guaranteed to work until they fall off. Seriously, I have yet to see suction cupped-anything, stay in place forever. Some cups way better than others. But for body scratch issues when a suction flies off, I'd go for a solid mount instead.

I get the far-forward small mirrors. You don't think they would work well, especially so small. They do. Pain in the rear axle to adjust although being farther away, less movement required to zero in. But still, the convenience of the mirrors on or near driver door has benefits, including I think aerodynamics gained by the body, even though larger in size, vs small but out front. Just a guess on my part about that.

In any case, I think the front mounting on the hood latch small mirrors are useful but I won't add them personally since my swivel head, eyes and other senses still work.

Aerodynamics. Jeep.... I think their goal is the perfect brick. The existing mirrors are like ears. Allowing unnecessary air flow. A good jeep design would have doors open at 90 degree to look back. Creating a larger brick
