I hear the concerns of rust etc…. I coated my internal soring and lock with dry film lubricant. Maybe it helps a little. If in a few months i see theres and issue…well ..$38 is cheap to replace or i will go a different direction. For the time being its just another layer of protection.
Dont worry, I think you will be fine. I have had mine for 2+yrs and not a single issues... I do use a silicone based lube to keep thing moving when I do normal maintenance... so far no issues.

Yes, some thief/asshat could rip them off and probably bend the mechanism causing potential damage to the lock/hood... but like all of these things... they are just a deterrent.

Here are a couple more pics to reference.

Glad you found them.

Thats exactly why I went with these. I wanted to go with a barrel lock. As best as I can tell, the internal components seem to be on par with the OEM. So far, no issues.

I like the OE look ones that are textured. Look good!

I've had these since June 2023. One of my first mods. Tweakers steal batteries in my neck of the desert...cats and batteries are the top of the list.

A theft-deterrent for sure, but if there's a loud noise in my driveway, i.e. a crowbar snapping the latch, my dog will alert me to take up arms. Keep the keys on the fob chain.

Ok… so I ordered a set from Amazon. They look like OEM and are decently heavier than the factory hinges.

It is litterally (2) bolts to remove the top 10mm

Bottom hinge is a 13mm (i think) single bolt.

Takes less than 5 mins to complete and is TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Cost is -$38.
Thanks for the hot tip…just installed them today.

I see the point about the springs being too strong and pushing the catch up….I fixed that by unhooking one side of the spring. Now they function like the OEM latches with just a bit of spring but not too much to keep the hood from closing.

Very happy with these. Thanks for posting this!

I ordered a set of the Rugged Ridge locking latches from Amazon (sold and fulfilled by Amazon). When I opened the box, can you guess what I found? A set of used factory latches. Amazon gave me full credit and told me to pitch the old latches. I ordered another set. Hopefully they will be new ones from Rugged Ridge. Someone can afford to buy a Wrangler or Gladiator, but can’t afford to pay for a $100 upgrade is crazy.
