Usually seems on my biannual 1800 mile trip, something on the jeep always go’s. This time I started to get Hood Open warning. Anyone know which sensor this is and anything to look for? I messed a little with the two latches but warning didn’t go away. Annoying since I use my remote start daily.

I "have heard" that the switches can stick or go bad. Some have lubed them, others have worked them up and down a few times manually, some have replaced the switch. I can't recall which of the TWO up front driver side is "the one" but you could always use an ohm meter and see if the switches operate correctly - unplug the wires and check the switches for open and closed circuits.

I think these.
One for Auto Stop/Start and the other for hood?

I don't know if this will effect your problem but the switch on the left is stuck in the down position. After looking at mine both were stuck in the down position. A little WD40 worked wonders.

I haven’t look at them closely …but… couldn’t you just push them down (on purpose) to trick the truck into thinking the hood is closed?

Or is there something on the underside of the hood (is it magnetic) that detects it?

It's just those two switches. I'm not sure if those are NO or NC switches.

If they are normally open (meaning open when plunger is up in the normal position) then dirt below can prevent them making contact.

IF they are normally closed when the plunger is up, then one that is stuck down should signal the system that the hood is still closed.

Has any9ne tested these switches. My hood light just came on and I couldn't get continuity from both of them in a multi metter. Are they normally o or normally closed

They are NC switch. However, they are not your typical simple open/close switches. They have resistors in them in parallel circuit.
The left (driver side) hood ajar switch has two 1k ohm resistors. It read 1k ohm when hood down (switch open), and 500 ohm when hood up ( switch close). The two wires are voltage sensing direct from the bcm.

Edit: They are NC switches but in an NO application as hood down.

Did you find a fix?...currently I have my auto stop/start warning light is on. Already spent money at the dealership so if it is this simple of a fix...I'm gonna be pissed.

Remove the two o rings from the sensors. They get stuck in the cylinder. It’ll fix it.

WD40 is temporary. It’ll get stuck again. Just pull the stupid o rings.

So..... I have my Auto Stop/start warning light on. I looked at these just now. Switched them and now I have a "Hood ajar Input Circuit open"..so I think it's safe to say that one is bad.

I had the same issue a year ago. I bought two new switches, but haven’t installed them. Removing those o rings allows the two switches to move freely. It’s just a crap design in my opinion. It’s been perfect for a year or more. Not a single hiccup.
