Hey guys,
I bought my truck about 8 months ago. It's a '22 sport that was already lifted and has 37" TOYO MT's. I've been saving, and I am about ready to get the gearing done. As of right now, I commute 75 miles one way (truck is NOT my daily, but I drive it on occasion), I will descend from 5,200 feet to practically sea level on my way to work, but going home is a bit rough (truck wont leave 5th gear, sometimes it favors 4th). The truck drives great around town, but any highway can be a pain after a while. I'm over it and ready to re-gear this hog. I have seen a few threads already about 4.88's vs 5.13's, I'm not really asking anyone's opinion on which is better (but I do appreciate input), but does anyone live in Ventura, Santa Clarita, or Bakersfield area, that has re-geared, and if so is there a shop that you can recommend??? I got a quote for $2,500 (motive gears) yesterday from a guy in Ventura, to me it seems reasonable, but I like weighing options out so I will keep looking for other shops. I have read that Gladiator re-gears should be between $2,100-$2,700....
I am not worried about the cost so much as I'm worried about the shop and quality. Obviously I want to find a shop that only does this. Please let me know if anyone is Local and What shops in these areas you could recommend....I'd like to stay relatively close to either of these areas. I'd even consider San Fernando Valley if someone recommended the "Gold Standard" of axle shops.
Thanks....
