I am searching for a horizontal bar that mounts just above the dash. I don't know the correct name for it, if I did perhaps my searches would be going better.
Can anybody help me locate any of these bars?
I am not talking about an internal roll cage, just the bar that some people mount their smart telephones and other electronics to.
In the same vein, I have been trying to remove the section on top of the dash that holds your sunglasses, wallet, condoms whatever. I have removed the two screws but cannot get any further. Are there any you-tube videos showing how to remove this piece? I want to mount gauges on top of the dash and run electrical cable and pressure hoses through the top center and downwards where I can drill holes to pass them through the firewall.
Any help would be very appreciated, even sarcasm and cries of "You CAN'T do that" as long as you tell me why.
Thank you for being such a great resource.

Thank you CMac and Renegade for the help. I decided to go with the Vector Off-Road tubular bar although I also like the BulletPoint but it was too narrow for my needs. One nice person on this forum had a brand new Vector Off-Road dashtube docking bar (still in it's original packaging) sitting in their garage which they offered to sell me for $30 cheaper. Unfortunately, I don't have a smartphone so I didn't get their message until after I ordered a new one from Vector.
I know, I know, I'm a dinosaur, I do not own a smart phone and I have never owned a television but honestly I'm just too busy. I have never received nor sent a text message. I do have a landline and an old computer and they both are annoying enough.
On a positive note, my situational awareness is pretty good.
