A example of why to keep a full tank or close to it, happened to Alabama some years ago when the large numbers of tornadoes came through AL. one of the few gas stations open afterwards was on Redstone Army Arsenal. Why, the Arsenal had power from generator sets on some things. It was weeks before some areas had open gas stations. More recent the hurricane that slammed a few states.... inland.... 🤔 🤔 🤔 During the tornado outbreak I know of quite a few people who were S.O.L. on fuel, my Wrangler was 3/4 tank and 2, 5 gallon fuel cans. My XJ was full and 2, 5 gallon fuel cans. 4 propane tanks full so my refrigerator was 3 clicks from running on it.
In my childhood I've been "snowed in" for over a week a number of times (keep the fuel for the heating stove and cooking availably big propane tank full), multiple tornadoes in early 1970's. In fact one that was included in many of the tornado preparedness videos that hit a school, I was in the ground zero room of it's impact... So I got to relive the rest of my school years I was in first grade when it happened. Hurricane that was expected to landfall around Savannah GA. Wiped out many gas stations of fuel (due to most people not having much fuel in vehicle ever) when I was stationed at Ft Stewart. The evacuation call was given to almost every area surrounding the post then finally to the post by then many soldiers were S.O.L. to leave due to not having fuel for their vehicle. Fortunately for the Savannah GA area it missed unfortunately for S.C.

Self prepared isn't just XXX but a well rounded supply. Some of my current natural disasters potentials are forest fire, tornados, hurricane and even possibly earthquakes to name a few the last thing I want to be concerned with is having enough fuel to get out of the area if needed.

Experiment. LOL I've seen some others say they do it. In theory, it allows the fuel to settle as some pumps are more rapid than others, waiting a few seconds and then trying to add more might get you another 1/2 gal of so. That was not the case in the Jeep. It just clicked full.

TFL - LOL. I've sort of lost at least some of my like for them and their videos after seeing them stumble on some really simple things - especially after their totally crazy explanation of the 4xe.

Yeah, they certainly aren’t perfect. But pretty good info overall. Much better at rating stuff than Consumer Reports.
