How can I tell if my Gladiator has a programmer?

I purchased a used 2023 Overland recently, which has the start/stop disabled.

I pulled the dash panel and verified that it does not have a Tazer programmer or piggyback start/stop eliminator installed. The SGW is intact with factory cables running into it.

The hood switches are in place and plugged in, and all of the battery cables are connected. I can't see where anything has been monkeyed with.

My concern is for any denial of future warranty claims (still has a few months of the 3/36 warranty and two+ years of powertrain warranty to go).

I used my BlueDriver OBD scanner to look for any codes, and the truck is error- free.

Any ideas on how to check for firmware changes or anything else that might have been done to turn off the start/stop?

When you say the truck "has the start/stop disabled."........how are you determining this? If you have error messages or check engine lights telling you there is a malfunction with that system, it may be something other than one of the various methods people use to eliminate the ESS.

As far as I am aware, all of those methods are really just telling the truck to remember the last state of the button (pressed or not pressed, AKA on or off) between drives. Nothing inherent about them should lead to any sort of errors or warranty issues.

Edit: Certain aftermarket headunits can also defeat the ESS. My Stinger Horizon 10 comes to mind.

Use the up/down arrows to scroll through the center screens. See if there are any messages on the ESS screen.

My first guess would be the batteries. I would start with separately charging each battery (separate the negative cables) and resetting the IBS.

May need to go to the settings to turn that screen on (I turned mine off),

2023, likely batteries, or it hasn't been driven enough, or they need to put a battery charger on it.
If it came from a dealer, it might have been sitting for a month and the batteries are nearly dead.

No such thing as firmware causing it. It would be not legal for a dealership to disable it.
Likely, you just have low batteries that need charging, or they are getting weak.
First thing you should do is get a volt meter and check the voltage at the main battery with the truck off - and don't use the dash to do that, use a volt meter at the battery terminals.

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like the batteries are the most likely cause of the start/stop not functioning.

I’ll get a meter on them or maybe just replace them, since they’re almost three years old.

My 2023 stop start is allways not ready I took it to the dealership they charged batteries and it worked for a couple of weeks l need to make appointment to have them recheck it’s under warranty

Just a follow-up:

I changed both batteries today and the ESS is working as intended.

Thanks to all who pointed me in the battery direction.

I just need to remember to hit the ESS switch after every start or invest in an elimination dongle.

I got new batteries under warranty. My key fob would not remote start mine several months before the 3/36. I would ask for batteries.
