Can you elaborate on this switch? Is it RF controlled on the other side of where it’s hidden, behind the dash for example?
Yes, on the opposite side is the touch sensor. Simply stick it using double-sided tape. I have it in a tiny plastic project box sticked behind a panel. It can be config as auto On when power restored or staying off or momentary.

The diameter of the pcb is only 3/4 x 1/2".

To avoid accidental activation when cleaning or wiping down the interior, i have it about 3/16" in depth. I must press my finger on the panel and hold for there half a second to activated. The depth or thickness is depending on whether you have warm, hot or dry fingers ?

So it is basically the same as the magnetic... it just uses proximity (finger touch) instead of the magnet ?

I was considering this type:

It has a long range sensor, so placing or waiving a magnet in front of it works. I'm just not sure if you need to leave the magnet there while driving or is it just used when starting the vehicle ?

and a key, possibly like this:

I have a lot more research to do... I am finding out, this switch can be as easy or as difficult as I over think it to be... lol

No. It's just like using you cell phone with latex glove on. The glove thickness is the non metallic panel.

I think the way I worded my statement confused you...

So ? Is... these two models ultimately serve the same purpose, they are just activated in different ways ?

I like your idea, using your hand and not having an extra "key" or magnet would be nice.

* or maybe I'm just not getting it... happens a lot... ?
Maybe you have a link to the one you used ?

By reed switch, is this what you got ?

Did yours come with a key ?

In this listing, I was guessing the non-wired piece is the magnetic "key" ? But looking at it, I'm not sure.

Or do you need this :

So to get this to work, wire this either inconjunction with/or instead of the toggle switch that comes with the 41.22 kit and attach the non-wired magnet "key" before each start ?

Thanks for the help
It came with the kit, but it looked something like this. Any magnet would switch it when within an inch of where you hid it.

@Vtur

I appreciate the link. After reading a little more about it... it basically seems like this is a similar model like used in a touch lamp.... very sneaky... they for sure won't find it unless you have very dirty fingers.?

Thanks for your help

Did you follow the instructions that came with this for installation or did you do a custom install ?
I don't recall...I probably followed the instructions. I installed it 15+ years ago on my TJ. Still working fine all these years. It says it works on any 12v system, so likely could be adapted to the JT?

I would think so. I was hoping you still had the diagram... but after 15 years... yes it can be adapted... but I was curious how yours did it, the one I looked at (similar to yours) wired through the starter relay... yours seems to be using the fuel side of things... I like that option.

Pretty sure I followed their instructions. On the TJ it's all in the drivers side footwell. Must have spliced into the harness somewhere near there. FYI, they designed it so you can connect/disconnect this feature so you don't have to swipe the magnet every time. I do this when wheeling as we are starting and stopping quite often and it's more convenient. If you do it on the JT, post up a write up. Thanks!
