Door check pushed in - how to get it out?

I disconnected the door check and pushed it into the door and replaced it with a longer strap, so the door would open wider to make it easier for my dog to get in and out. now that the dog is gone I would like to pull that door check out and reattach it. I have pulled as hard as I can and it won't come out. are there any tricks to getting that thing out?

Thanks for that link! I had seen it in the past but after many searches I couldn't find it again. Girlfriend doesn't like the fact that the door won't stay open and wants those checks reattached before our next overlanding trip to Alaska in a couple weeks. Gotta keep the peace!

Without watching the video, I use a screwdriver in one of the holes and yank it out. Never been a problem for me.
