I’ve got 44,000 miles on my mall crawler. They are cupped and loud. The have no siping anymore. But the knobby tread gets me through deep snow just fine

i was going to replace them when I retire in July. But can I just keep running them??

I'd say when you start hydroplaning in an Indiana gully washer, it's time.

Don't know what state you're in. But 2/32" is the minimum for inspection in Pa.

He be a Hoosier, we don't have no steenken state inspection....
That's why everytime I go through that state. A lot of the vehicles I see on the road look like escapees from a scrap yard.

John, you say they were rock solid in that downpour. Did you ask them to do anything important, or were you able to gently roll along?
Tires to me are only as good as their 'Oh shit' capabilities. Once you have to drive defensively because of a shortage in tire performance, time to get new. You are not talking about the full price of new tires, you were going to need them eventually; you are only talking about the percentage of cost that you threw away. Which is much cheaper than any incident.

If you take @Wheelin98TJ 's advice, once the cords show, they are now ice tires!

Isn't hydroplaning the middle name for mud tires?

As a native Region Rat, I'd say run them until they are stolen.
