How much rear clearance do I really need?

This past weekend I changed tires to 35 x 11.5R17 on my stock wheels. I love how flush they fit. I don't like tire poke. After all my research on tire size I thought I had accounted for everything but I'm a bit tight in one area. I didn't account for my fox 2.5's shocks. The reservoirs do not line up with the shock body, they are offset to the outside which now comes closer to the inside tire sidewall.
How much clearance do I need between the rear tire and shock reservoirs? Is this too close? I haven't fully stuffed the tire to check clearance through it's travel. What could be my remedy? I don't want to add spacers due to the tire poke. Also I'll be adding a 2.5" lift this weekend. Wonder how much that will affect the clearance ?

Man that's tight. Maybe get a little articulation going and try that test again see if anything changes.

Will do, haven't had a chance to fully articulate. I have driven at least 60 miles since the install and they are not rubbing during highway/city driving.

Finally got around to install the lift and noticed there was rubbing prior to the install. Ending up using 0.5" wheel spacers and it's back to the same gap I had with the stock tires. Poke is not noticeable, I'm happy with the results.

If you want to ditch those spacers, you could "re-clock" the bridge on the shocks in a little. Pretty sure there is plenty of room inboard to fit the resi?

Glad you mentioned that because I was thinking of contacting Fox and asking if it can be done. I know if the reservoirs were a bit more inboard there would be no issues.
I was in a crunch and the spacers were the quickest solution. I actually flipped the shocks upside down to avoid the rubbing while I waited for the spacers to arrive, lol.

You can just loosen the jam nuts for the bridge and push it over.

You can either buy the correct tool and maybe be able to do it on the truck or if you don't mind scratching the nuts a but, just use a small punch. I had to do some creative tuning on a Duramax truck the other day for everything to fit.

Funny, I had to flip the rears upside down on this truck because it was a cab/chassis and the regular pickup shocks wouldn't fit without.
