This is my JTRD with 4" with 37's. I wheel it hard. I could fit 40's.

You also have a Rubicon so your clearances are a little higher. I’m on 4.5” and have less clearance than you

Good evening ALL! hope everyone had a good day... SO QUESTION...

I have a '22 Jeep Gladiator Overland EcoDiesel, stock height, Banks Derringer and Pedal Monster and running Toyo 33/12.5r17. Love my gas mileage but I feel like I'm not doing my jeep right without a lift. I'm getting ready to go to 22s and run 40s. How much of a lift will I need to get this setup to fit? Please help with Height of lift, Brand of lift, type of shocks... Please and thank you. I appreciate everyone's input.
hey Gerald, i'll show you respect and answer your question with info only and no flack about your motives. i have a 2021 gas rubicon. my starting point is different from yours but hopefully it will give you some ideas for adapting to your build. i run a 4.5" lift from teraflex with alpine IR arms. shocks are falcon sp2 3.3 which work very well. from synergy, i use their track bar and sector shaft brace. after 5000 miles on the build i replaced the stock ball joints with american iron offroad ball joint deletes. excellent product. daystar 3/4" leveling spacers were installed in the rear as i wanted the vehicle to sit level. rancho is my choice for differential covers and diff skids. for wheels, i run moto metal 20x10x-24 and tires are maxxis razr AT 40". i have 32,000 on them and anticipate getting another 8-10,000. i find them to be quiet for their size and tread. for me, it was a no brainer to run 4.88 gears instead of 5.13. yes the 5.13's would provide more grunt when rock climbing which i do once a year but otherwise it is highway driving daily. on an interstate at 79mph in 8th gear, i'm at 2150 rpm. with a headwind or going up a grade the computer will decide which gear is best so there is no "lugging" the engine as i've seen posted on this forum.
i find the drivability to be very similar to stock. the only body mod i made was to cut 1.5" off the front of the oem rock slides. inner and outer fenders are stock. i have ZERO rub at full articulation. i've never felt the need to change any of these components when off road at moab, ouray, SMORR or hot springs off road park. there is truth in breaking stuff when running 40" tires. if one drives with a size 22 right shoe then breakage will occur. common sense and a light throttle will help a stuck jeep way easier mechanically than hammering it as if one is making a youtube video.
i'm 6'1 and my bride is 5'2. we are 64 years old and are able to get in and out OK. heaven forbid but should the day come when it is no longer possible, we will have years of memories of this awesome jeep build that works well for us! i wish you well.

nope not wheeling much or rock climbing, just pavement, beach and rack&tent “overlanding”. Nothing major that would flex the vehicle. Thanks for the input. I’m thinking of going 4.5 or 6.5 with the EvoMFG lift for the diesel. Pretty legit lift.
Since you aren’t wheeling it at all, you can run 40” tires on your overland with a 3” lift.
the major issue is 22s are gonna he wide and have a big - offset so your your tire sweep is going to cause interference at full lock.

Before I recommend what to do you should think hard about WHICH 40 & 22 you want
