I would think a steam cleaner would do the trick.I am considering removing the Rubicon letter to just have a cleaner, more stealthy look to my Gladiator. What is the best way to do this, what equipment do I need, and how much of a pain in the arse is it do without damaging the finish?
If you try the 3M adhesive remover spray, you probably won’t use Goo Gone again. I previously said it works great. Instead should’ve said works amazing. As @Janster mentioned, be careful with heat guns. They work very well for what they are designed to do but you don't need too much heat to quickly soften the decals.
As mentioned, start with a hair dryer and then a heat gun if needed. Just hold the heat gun far enough away not to have boiled paint with a plastic smell.
Personally, once you peel it off, or probably in several pieces, I have found Goo Gone to work well in getting the leftover glue off and then a good rinsing to get rid of the Goo Gone.
I also was thinking about taking the Rubicon decal off of one side and putting on a Mojave decal in its place. It might be funny to confuse people into thinking I have two different vehicles when I pass by their houses driving in different directions!
Thanks. Will definitely try it. I took the little dealer decal immediately off my JTR when I purchased it but while the decal came off easily, there is still some traces of the goo/glue/snot or whatever that remains on the tailgate even after nearly a year. I will try the 3M stuff. If you try the 3M adhesive remover spray, you probably won’t use Goo Gone again. I previously said it works great. Instead should’ve said works amazing.
I used a heat gun on the lowest setting - doesn’t need much heat at All. A hair dryer might work. Letters came off very easy.Heat gun and they peel right off.
What year and color is your Jeep?
Is it garaged kept or left outside?
You may see ghosting.
