I stopped by my local dealer in SW Florida this weekend to finally get a look at the Gladiator in person. They probably had about 10 Rubicons around 60k and 2 loaded Overlands in the high 50k price range. I spoke with a couple of the sales guys who came out and I was left with the impression they are having a hard time selling these higher price tagged Rubicons and Overlands, but are expecting the lower priced Sports to drive sales once they start getting those in. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out after a couple of years.

To each his own. I just can't see spending 50k on a Gladiator when I can get more for my money on a Full Size Truck. But like I said to each his own.

To each his own, I can’t see spending $70-$75K on a Full size truck(GMC Sierra Denali) when I can get a mid size truck(Gladiator Sport S) for less than $38K....guess it works both ways. The comparisons are endless.....love my million dollar JT!!!

I wish someone would define "more truck" as I don't know what everyone is talking about?

More towing capacity?
Faster 0-60 times?
More enjoyment taking the top off and doors?

I don't think the ram 1500/nameahalfton win any of those categories. The gladiator however does hold 1 of those titles.

This is a niche release product meaning the dealers received the Rubicons loaded up right off the bat. It is a sticker shock price for most people. I think the Gladiator will be an awesome sales product as the consumers see more on the road. And the next batch’s of Gladiator are going to be the more subtle priced units which will probably create more sales. The Jeep brand is not a copy cat brand meaning go find another manufacturer making something similar??? And yeah uh no ain’t gonna find one so Jeep knows what their doing and thank goodness Jeep keeps bringing excitement to the brand.
I think you are dead on, I needed the max trailer package, and like the mechanical upgrades for the price. But generally I would say that 95% of the public has no idea these trucks are in production, but once they are seen driving around I expect demand to rise a bit. The Mid-size truck market is hot, and a convertible truck is going to be popular. I got my JT ordered up with the max trailer package for right at $40k, which I am very happy about. I like the idea of a basic JT I can hose out and pound on a bit. This will be a 3rd vehicle, so I'm leaving the flashy-ness to our 2018 Lexus RX450h. I really got this just to pound down dirt roads and play in the mud while boondock camping. They'll catch on and the market prices will adjust a bit, and like all Jeeps, JT resale prices will always be better than most other comparable vehicles.

Toyota Tundra (gone... Just totaled it 4/22/19) Now a 2018 Toyota 4Runner Limited, RX350 (Wife's) and soon a Gladiator LE
I was about to buy a TRD Pro Tacoma for just south of 50k. Then I saw the LE. I know its more but it has everything I want and more.
When I was younger, I always separated my "wants" from my "needs". I did not buy many wants. Now that I'm older and wiser, I get all the "I wants" that I want. So... I'm ok with the LE being 62k
A lot of people are justified in getting what meets there needs and price range. When the Gladiator hits the used car market and more people see them on the road, they will sell just like the JK, and the JL do today.

So just to clarify, the "price" everyone seems to be fixated on is for a fully loaded Rubicon.....there will be Sport and Sport S versions out soon that are closer to the "price" everyone seems to think these should be going for...trolls and Non Jeep owners don't get it, and i understand, my wife doesn't get it, but she doesn't post in a JT Forum about how "pricey" the Fully Loaded JT's are....like I mentioned in a prior post, Full Size truck fans, mosey over to those Forums.......this is a Gladiator Forum meant to share info about the vehicle and mods, not debate the cost of them!

Just two different vehicles that are not in the same category for comparison.

Well said. We've talked about this ad nauseum. I respect people's opinion that "it's too expensive" - and that you could go get some other vehicle for the same amount. That's true. But unfortunately it doesn't really add value to this conversation as a whole. I could buy apples for the same price as oranges. But if I want apples, why are we talking about oranges?

You have a manual shifter mechanism for your avatar... My $51,1xx Rubicon build has a manual transmission. Which full size truck would you have to get more for your money and include a manual trans?

Powertank.. CO2 for tires.
*Facepalm* goes to show how often I interact with those. My JKU has 2x ARB twin compressors plumbed into the frame with a standard 1/4 inch automotive NPT coupled sticking out of the bumper and just use a water separator or a 7 gal drainable air tank prior to filling tires or running air tools.

Yeap,I can get one of these for under 60k too. Plus it is a two door and the top comes off. Lol.
