I guess me having a broke down Jeep tied up in legal arbitration, waiting on big corp. to fix it is not something I would risk. I can't afford to have my vehicle down for that long. An oil change takes less than 30 minute of my time.
Kids these days. Takes me almost that long to get back up off the floor.
J/K

They've been really good here, and keeping/storing the oil, filter disposal, and me not doing well laying under a car/truck, that's why I go my way.
Younger, and for my cars, I've done every single thing ever done to either of those cars since I got them, everything. The only wrenches to touch them have been mine.
I warned Discount Tire about the wheels on my SX4 - letting them know that wheel damage is totally unacceptable due to the fact - you can't find them in any good condition at any price so their insurance is worthless when it's an item that is literally irreplaceable.
But that was it. New tires.

Jiffy lube is a big company with plenty of money to pay for their mistakes. If you read my other post, I wouldn't even be upset if they left the drain plug out as the check they'd cut me for engine replacement and time without my vehicle would cover most of the cost of a hemi swap. Why would I worry about someone damaging my Jeep when I know full well they can pay for it if they do? I drift the thing around corners in the dirt at freeway speeds in the desert all the time and I'm supposed to worry about the "risk" of an oil change?
I had my hood painted on Jiffy Lubes tab. i much rather not have my hood paint on my new car. But yes, they paid for it. Seems they left the oil cap on the intake manifold and closed the hood. It was my last oil change by a franchise. My last free dealership oil change was in 2014. the knuckle head there pulled the hose down from the ceiling, squeezed the trigger and then slowly walked over to the engine fill tube. When they pulled the truck out for me, you can see the oil dripping from just about everywhere. They gave me a free oil change. i never went back. I was even hesitant to bring the Gladiator in for the steering gear and the rear window.

What is a Nighthawk anyway?
Most people hate the 20" rims, and some people seem annoyed at the lack of heated seats and adaptive cruise control...

The trip to the store and the trip back with the used oil takes longer than jiffy lube and the cost is a wash. Why would I bother? I can swing through and get the oil changed on the way to meeting the wife for dinner (she gets off 2 hours after I do everyday) and not even have to wash my hands before the 1st cocktail. Time is my most valuable asset at this point in my life and I have no problem with that. I'll still install my own lifts, do my own mods, and even rotate my own tires but when it comes to remedial tasks that save me no time or money and I don't find rewarding I'll delegate for sure.
I drop mine off at the town transfer station with my cardboard and cans keeps my taxes down they heat the buildings with used oil and i save some for drill oil and treating my yard timbers

If Jiffy Lube cuts you a check at all, it will be for the cost of a "like" mileage salvage engine to be installed.

We get to put 2 gallons of used oil on the curb with our trash every week. Just has to be in clear jugs with "oil" written on it. Never heard of having to transport oil anywhere unless it was over 5 gallons lol

I really like the Nighthawk. Promptly ditch the 20's, which is cheap using oem takeoffs, and you're left with a decent base platform for many people. Wide axles, LSD, colored body panels, hardtop (if that's what you want) and back in '24, power options that weren't standard on the sport. All at a pretty darn good price with all the incentives. I'd prefer a 4.10 over the 3.73 as standard, but you can't have it all.

Oddly, being Gen-X, I'm not a fan of the name. :)

I lived in a town once that had an oil recycling program. It was convenient for sure. I have 10 or so 2.5 gallon jugs to store my used oil. The part stores have limits but most of the time they look the other way when I do multiple trips with 2 jugs in hand. I thought of making an oil drip heater, but the mess and unsightly product that I could make, was a turn off. If I was a true craftsman and could make something nice, I would do it.

Get out away from home a bit. ;)
Much of the country you have to take it somewhere - a parts store, or a hazardous waste facility.
It's that way in a lot of places. "Garbage trucks" are not made for holding non-garbage waste. You can't even put tree branches or leaves with the normal trash. The trucks just don't have that ability to deal with jugs of oil, and they go to the landfill, dump the load, and move on. There's no hazardous waste collecting out there.

I've lived in a lot of states from the east coast to the west coast, and most of them let me put jugs out with the trash. The trucks have storage areas underneath them where they put the jugs, then they get dropped at the hazardous waste collection at the landfill when they empty the truck. Maybe if you got away from home more often you would be more familiar with this system.

One of our PMs had them leave the filter so loose on his duramax that it ended up killing the engine. Not only did they pay for the new engine they covered the install too. 100%. Plus they covered the rental Ford the 4 weeks he was without his truck. Liability is a real thing and shouldn't cost you a dime.
