I may be ignorant on this stuff, but I wonder why one couldn't use some type of adhesive to apply these instead of bolting them on.
Do you want them for looks or for armor? You'd have to trust double-sided tape to stay in place during an impact and not slide, which would cause more damage than drilling some precision holes.

Damn I have the same mod sitting in the living room.
I wasnt sure about drilling holes but now seeing yours.
WTF going to drill holes this SAT.
Tips:
A 20 penny nail is a good center punch
Beer helps line things up
Walmart has the best quality drill bits
Proper torque is good and tight plus one more firm push

Howdy, I didn't say double sided tape, they make adhesive that is strong, would never slide with the surface area these have against the body.
One down side is the install would really have to be considered permanent once properly glued. I was only making a suggestion, an alternative to bolting it on with so many screws.

I'm not familiar with those kinds of adhesives, I think I would still prefer hardware to glue for this application. You can remove the armor to repaint the truck or mitigate rust, or just repaint the armor if it gets scraped up.

Hardest mod yet. Not in terms of difficulty but drilling 58 holes in the body of my truck hurt my soul. Ok, not really but I've been sitting on these armor panels for almost a year because I just couldn't bring myself to purposely poke holes in the sides of my truck. I finally worked up the nerve and pulled the trigger. I literally cringed every time I drilled a hole, lol. Now I just need to get the new black armor dirty so it matches everything else. Or wash the truck, yeah, I could do that. Na, mud is more fun.

Looks good!
I hear you. I installed hood vents in my old JT. 4 really big holes and about 30 little ones. It was very stressful at first.

Worth it! This looks great against your paint color and certainly adds to the flare.

Very nice! I want to share something that you may know . . . that I learned the hard way. Many years ago, I worked as an installer of accessories in new cars. One afternoon, when I finished up late, put a vehicle in the lot without thoroughly blowing out all of drill filings. The next day I was in the office getting chewed out for the light rust that was all over the fender, hood, and cowl. Just one night/morning of dew and the filings started to affect the paint. I will never forget that. As best you possibly can, blow out all crevasses and cavities. Rust starts with filings very fast in rocker panels, cowl vents, etc.

Just take your time. Get it exactly straight and centered and pop that first hole. The hardest part was making sure the angle in the plate matched the angle on the body from end to end.

These weight about 35 pounds each and are over 6 feet long. They're 3/16" plate steel. I wouldn't even consider chancing one of these coming detached while moving down a highway.

This was done with the rock slider in place. The tree root came in from the top of the slider. Even bent the slider step down from the force.
