I did a lot of looking before I finally pulled the trigger on the Gladiator. The Ram was high on the list as well as the Canyon/Colorado and the Taco and even a JLU. My issue with the Ram was simply the price it would have been to get the options I wanted. The Colorado was finding one with what I wanted and the taco was uncomfortable with no back seat space.

For me, the Gladiator was the best of the best for MY wants and needs. The one I found was a price I could stomach with 99% of the options I wanted, a few I didn't but have grown to love and what was missing was easily added.

I'm glad you found a Ram that fits your needs and hope you stick around to continue to pass on what you have learned from your Gladiator.

For me its less about “can they fit” and more about how they fit. My family fit happily in the JT. We were just pushing the limits with the payload and towing. The ram, despite not being what i want to be in, will do everything we need and do it safely. Thats truly the most important part for me, having the family safe as we travel with the camper. ?
I hear you. Safety and family go hand in hand.

With that said, try not to presume that this is not what you want to be in. My prediction is that you will be very happy with the Ram and all of the benefits (although different from a JT) that it has to offer. It's an awesome truck.

Bad thing is that now you have to start over with new mods! ;)

Today is the day boys! Im heading to my credit union soon to sign the papers and then to the dealer to make the purchase. I’ve spent a couple hours over the last few days pulling off some of the components to sell.… And of course the Jeep had to get in a few more bites before it left the driveway.

Your Jeep is angry at you. Take warning. It has feelings too.

Within a half hour of owning it I had to pull my mother‘s Rpod 153 down to my local RV shop to be winterized. I stuck the 2 inch ball on a 3 1/2 inch drop hitch thinking maybe the camper would sit two nose high when I pulled it… I was very wrong and probably should’ve just stuck to a 1 inch drop lol. Aside from the awkward angle it pulled just fine.

A bit of cursory reading, and I’m already looking at either sumo Springs or airbags. And honestly honestly will probably do both just like I did in the gladiator. It shouldn’t need them, but just like in the gladiator it makes me feel better to know I have the extra support, if I feel it’s needed.

edit: I ordered the sumos today. They have a PHENOMENAL deal at the moment. %24 off…so I couldn’t resist getting the $305 kit at a discount.

Here is the code in case anyone is interested. Their website says it’s good for everything on the site!

Once you get it home, post pics of that new family member with the heartbeat of 395 ponies!

Soon the Hemi will be history, so maybe a sound clip at the rear exhaust during cold start-up to take me back to those glory days?!

Enjoy! ;)
I had a longer clip but most the site will support is this 9sec clip ?‍♂?

Dang Security bypass module. The jeep is fun, and capable, but there are some machines that just make life easier on a daily basis.

I had to make this call, and it is a tough one, especially when you have put your hands on most the parts, and whispered to it, to motivate it to do great things.

Wait until you see it on the road with another driver behind the wheel, that stings a bit.

I get over it with a loud Hemi wail, and a back seat full of school girls laughing and screaming, again dad! LOL!

You will have fun with that RAM, beautiful color! I loved my blue RAM. I can whisper to those too, if you ever feel it needs some motivation

After hemming and hawing for a LONG time I have decided to move forward with buying a full sized truck...just to say it now THIS IS NOT THE LAST JEEP I WILL EVER OWN.

Up until very recently I have had to become more comfortable with the idea of keeping my jt essentially until it falls apart...which given how I take care of it would probably not be for another 100k miles. Knowing full well I have used it hard for towing a 6k lbs trailer thousands of miles and would probably have some expensive repairs or replacements coming up soon. But my family isnt getting any smaller and i have been floating right at or danger close to my max payload for months now. And the reality is that its not feasible to keep taking my jt and my wifes jlu on all of our camping trips just to spread the load...though we will probably still need to when we camp in march/apr/nov sicne the dogs come and it will be too cold for long rides in the bed with just a pop up cover on. And I dont want to put my family in danger by intentionally towing outside of the trucks capabilities.

I have had a VA disability claim pending for a couple years, waiting to be seen by a judge since the VA denied me at first. The judge approved my claim and i got a very large back pay check. For the first time in probably a decade I am credit card debt free and I can afford to make a sizeable down payment on the new truck to keep the payment less than $500/month. All while not blowing the entire back pay check. (comical phrasing since it was a back injury claim)

I started searching and working with my local dealer. The same dealer ive gotten nearly every vehicle ive bought since I started driving. Ultimately they were able to find the Ram I have in the link and will be getting it this saturday. Ill hear back from my credit union on monday and will likely pull the trigger once I get the nod from them.

It has the 3.92s with the 5'7" bed, hemi V8 with the eTorque, and tow package I wanted. So it can pull 11k ish pounds and has a payload of 1770lbs according tot he B pillar sticker. The additional 250lbs of payload will let this be the long term towing truck for us! It has other goodies but the high notes are the towing stuff I wanted.

I will %100 miss my JT. I truly love this truck and have been blown away with what I have been able to do with it. I have no doubt I will end up finding a less than $8k wrangler as a project jeep to scratch the itch, while I also maintain my wife's JLU.

Ill still lurk here on the forums to helo folks out with what I have learned from the JT and to enjoy the community. Needless to say I will have stuff going up for sale soon so when you see the vultures start circling, youll know why.

I feel myself looking at Ram's online all day fighting the urge. I am actually buying out my lease tonight on my JT since I did so much work on it. After buying a camper last year and seeing how much more you get for your money in a Ram it's tough. I've had 4 Jeeps over the last 20 years

Super nice Bighorn by the way. Great choice of color as well. Enjoy it well!

Yup. Same thing happened to me. Driving through a nearby town 20 miles from home and spotted my old Mojave at a restaurant. It was parked so I couldn't see who the new owner was, but it looked just as perfect as when I had it. Made me feel a little better about trading it. :)

Nice truck! Talk to the Ram forums. Lots of information on what's best for comfort and hauling on 1500s.

Beautiful color. Patriot Blue was my first choice and the color I ordered. When I went to sign and pick it up I saw this one for a few hundred less (timing is everything) with much more equipment than mine. LED lighting, towing technology, Big Horn group B, etc… and I came home with this one.

The 33 gallon gas tank is a game changer.

Ram is the only truck I actually like in white!

That huge tank would have been sweet. But but it makes me think the extra 10gal of gas would have decreased my rated payload, which for me was a key part of getting this one. So ill survive with fuel pit stops every 180-200 miles ish haha

My payload is 1,646# which is just over 500# more than my Rubicon.
