Until Ford goes 100% EV, they are not going to be breaking the state dealership franchise model anytime soon.
It is not about breaking the franchise model, it is about stopping the dealership excessive markups.

I, too, tried a Hendrik Jeep dealership. Put a whole new light on Just Empty Every Pocket. I bought in October 2019 when all of the Atlanta stealerships were marking the new Gladiators up just because they could. I ended up driving up to Winchester, Tennessee where Russell Barnett Jeep gave me a fair deal on the Gladiator I wanted ($4K off sticker), had no BS dealer add-ons and offered me 7K more for my 2015 Silverado than any local Atlanta dealership did. So….. Kudus to a fantastic dealership that made the 3 hour drive (each way) worth while.

That is...a truly unfortunate manifestation of a screwed-up market.
Personally, I don't think "the market" has anything to do with it. In my experience dealers have ALWAYS marked up hot selling cars whatever they thought they could get for them. I call it, "Because we can" money. SOMEONE will want the newest, hottest thing on the market and WILL pay it. It's skimming the cream off the top.

Same happens at Mecums auctions. People that attend have money and auction house want the cream on top.

Those numbers are insane. I got my nitrogen for free, window tint for $125, & wheels / tires for $2,000.

I recently purchased from a dealer who mentioned they often get their "markup" in the form of addendums, or dealer add-ons that they add a lot of margin to. That way they aren't seen as marking up the MSRP, but it works out the same. Uninformed buyers just getting hosed.
Yep. If you listen to YAA videos on YouTube they will tell you a sucker isborn every minute. They make this big money in the Finance department. If it’s taxable, it’s negotiable.

Not really your problem is it? If someone wants to pay it and has the money to do so thats between them and the seller.

Is it asinine? Yes but not my problem either.
Yep… but unfortunately the people who will pay this amount- ruin the market for everyone else who know and are willing to pay a fair price.

So I went to my local dealership to set a date for the lift install and as I was walking out I noticed a lifted 2022 JTR. I checked it out so see how mine will eventually look and a large number caught my eye. I looked at the pricing sheet and my eyes widened. MSRP for the JTR alone was 61,000.... that's about normal, but then when I looked at how much the dealer mark up is for a MOPAR lift, ok-ish 37's and in my opinion some ugly wheels blew my mind. It kind of makes my blood boil knowing someone is going to buy this.

The price stated is about 9k too high but it does start to add up quickly when you’d add a lift & gearing for 37s. If they replaced the Axels with Dana 60s or 80s For 40” or bigger tires, Then that would be a decent deal.

I bought a 4xe from Hendrick last year, ( I no longer have it, too many problems. ) I made the deal over the phone because I don’t live in that city. I argued about the items listed above, door edge guards, nitrogen, window tint and wheel locks plus $199 for floor mats. They told me those were not negotiable and were already installed. I pointed out the mats were on the sticker and I was already paying for them. They took those off. After I took delivery and got home, I realized the only tint on the windows was the factory tint, and there were no door edge guards installed. I called and had to argue with a manager, but they sent me a check for $750 for the tint and door guards. Basically 60% of the items that I was charged for were not on the vehicle or already paid for. I spoke to someone at another dealership that said it was standard practice for Hendrick add $1400 to every vehicle. Worst case buying experience I’ve ever had and I’m 62 years old and have bought more than a few vehicles. I can’t even cheer for Hendricks’s NASCAR drivers anymore.

Window tint is standard on everything above the base Sport. How are they getting away with charging someone for something it already comes with? That is terrible and crazy. That would be incredibly easy to fight them on since it's on the window sticker, and makes everything else highly suspect. I thought the tires came with nitrogen from the factory too, there was a green nitrogen sticker on the windshield when I bought it about the nitrogen filled tires.

I am sure it is probably additional aftermarket tint to make it darker.

Window tint was for the driver and passenger windows. I didn't even look like they took it down to the lowest legal level which is 35. Probably somewhere around 40-45 percent tint and it didn't even come close to matching the rear windows remotely. As you can see from the window sticker... hardly tinted at all, but yes it was there believe it or not.
