I don't even understand the Jeep driver's hurry to get back in the lane so quickly. What a stupid thing to do.

Maybe read the thread again. Innocent driver died.
Source? Because the article linked in this thread says no fatalities...

The saddest thing is the person or persons in the car likely most severely impacted weren't even part of the rage or poor driving.

Nothing other than hearsay has stated that there were fatalities.

So sad that something as simple as a traffic issue would cause someone to put several life's at risk. My son this last fall was driving his Gladiator in Denver,Co when a guy wanted to get around him but was to much traffic so he rode my sons bumper for 6 or 7 miles threw downtown Denver finally it came to our exit we get off the highway this idiot follows us we get to a stop light the guy gets out of his 4runner comes up to my sons window screaming at him starts beating on his window telling him he was going to kill him my son couldn't drive off so after a couple minutes of this I jumped out of the Jeep pulled my 45 and told him to go back to his car he took of running and may still be running today cop's showed up in about 5 minutes and impounded his car. Not sure what would have happened if I wasn't along and armed I have a ccp for 35 years first time I had to pull my weapon!

I don't know that highway or area so reserve judgement - but - we've been in areas where the navigation states to "keep left in 1 mile" to keep going where you want to go because the highway splits and if you aren't in that left lane, you go to some other city or state.
For all I know the nav/phone/GPS told him/her to keep left to make the next highway split.
A lot of places are that way. Take I35 south and hit KC - you have to keep right here, then keep left, then take this exit, then keep left again, merge here - all to GO STRAIGHT ON I35!
So - we don't know and can't judge, can we? Maybe there's a reason, maybe a sign says "xxx these lanes" and they needed to move over?
I know this area well and the traffic is always very thick. I avoid the road as much as possible because it has these types of drivers every day. In fact, Aujstin as a whole is a terrible place to have to drive in. I hope the jeep driver does a lot of time for his stupidity. The illegal that totaled my jeep got 2 tickets and sent on his way. The system is broken.

I don't know if we're allowed to use this kind of language here, but this guy is a real jerk.

(only willing to make jokes because the news article cited earlier claiming zero fatalities Crash results in vehicle fire - Four Points News seems to be for this accident, based on the accounts of the person who posted the video on reddit stating it happened on 620 in Austin and the article claiming the same)

Self PIT maneuver. To me it looks like the Jeep forgot how long he is, or was, and tried to play Formula 1 swervy games.

Thanks to modern crash protection, and more importantly modern Level 1 trauma ER’s, it looks like neither of them will be a statistic. Hopefully there was a lesson learned.
I would have no problem with the jeep driver being dead. Get rid of him before he kills someone.

People Work?
This is why I sold my motorcycle and retired from trucking. That car had no reason to move left which is extremely annoying (keep right except to pass) but the JT driver was definitely in the wrong. The one I feel bad for is the innocent driver going the other way. I saw stuff like this on a daily basis for 30 years and it finally broke me. Now I work in a wood shop. ?
It's not a fully divided highway. So they may have been moving to make an upcoming left turn.

NOT knowing that area at all, I haven't even flown over it, passed it by boat, or dreamt of the area in my sleep (or waking moments for that matter) I wondered if there wasn't a possible reason.
I'm not making excuses, just trying to not be quick to judge, which is really hard when you have what I have - what you first think is what you say (or type).
Anyway, I've been in enough areas where highways merge, split, 3 lanes go right, 1 goes left, whatever and so either they needed to make that move in prep for a change in direction, or they just didn't like being in the right lane. (the latter being like an Iowa driver)

Maybe one or two of you will appreciate this - it points to the fact that some if this isn't entirely new - at least as far as knowing traffic laws, signs and so on.........
My father used to commute every day from home to work and back. As I recall it was a 45 minute drive each way from the town where we lived NW of Des Moines over to the factory on the east side of Des Moines. The interstates were relatively new for part of that time (late 50s into the late 70s)
Due to the distance and all, he carpooled with other men who worked there as well - most were from other towns in between ours and the plant.
Now keep in mind - this was the late 60s/early 70s I'm thinking I recall him saying this - we were old enough to understand what he was saying - and he's talking about adults.
Anyway, coming back after work one day, one of the other guys was driving. They went through Des Moines and were getting on the interstate which after a couple of miles took them to a 2 lane state highway to get home.
Coming up the entrance ramp to the interstate, the traffic of course was heavy - commute time, DUH. The driver of the car Dad was in was getting pissed and cursing at people as he tried to barge his way onto the interstate. (and the guy wasn't exactly building up speed to "merge".
The guy was getting hot when Dad calmly pointed to the sign on the ramp that said "YIELD" and asked - ya know what that means, right?
The driver answered - yes, they are supposed to get out of my way and yield to me.
Dad was so amazed at the stupidity and the fact the guy was dead serious!
It's so bad here that the IHP have gone in TV saying that "if the drivers on the interstate move over for you, it's them being courtous, they do not have to and often can not move over. It's up to you entering the highway to yield to them"
Didn't mater of the IHP campaign to spread knowledge to the driving public - people don't give a rip and it's "I have my signal on that means get the hell out of my way I'm coming in whether you are there or not" and that's the attitude of too many.
It's not a shared highway, it's MY highway MY RIGHT, get out of my way!

There is a solution to at least some of this - set your clocks 10 minutes fast, set alarms 10-15 minutes earlier than absolutely necessary, leave a bit early and enjoy the drive calmly and safely and alive.

(HAHAHA - me with diagnosed severe ADHD saying that like it's easy! Right)
