Anyone else prefer to have a 12v outlet in the bed rather than the 110v one? Most stuff I’d want to plug in on my trucks either draws way too many amps to work with that 400w inverter, or is already 12v.

Maybe someone will come up with a nice kit to mount a 12v outlet or two...

MOAR POWA!!

Would a solution be to make upgrades to the battery and/or the inverter? I don't know too much about electrical so would love input.

Well a dual batt mode will surely be coming, and yes a bigger inverter could work but it’d definitely need to be hardwired to the battery to get 10-15amps of 110. I suppose we’ll just have to see how it’s all wired up and if/where there’s space to replace the baby inverter.

Of course now that I’m running along the lines of an actuallly capable inverter (pure sine wave, ~1750W), man - it would be nice to run my miter saw on the tailgate. And my shop vac. And my pressure washer.

Hmmmmmmmm

All I plan to run is my beer cooler until I can have a kegerator installed in the bed.

Do you have a beer cooler with a compressor, or is it one of those peltier type ones that can only cool objects down 10 degrees from the ambient temp?

I don't have it yet, but I see a Dometic in my future.

Edit: The Dometic will freeze items. I want to see the blue rocky mountains on my coors light. I won't be able to afford expensive beers by that point.

Yeah, but my beer cooler (an ARB) is waaay more efficient on 12v than 110...
Oh... good point. The Dometic can use either, but I guess there is no choice without making mods.

kinda like the vehicle taking 12 volt, changing it to 110, then the ARB changing it back to 12 from 110 to run a 12 volt compressor?

i could see this being inefficient.

Yup - Running 2 inverters rather than zero is not great.

Back to the high-power option though, I also bet I could set up my track saw to rip plywood in the bed! Haul the plywood, then rip the plywood, all in one place. Jeep better have accounted for The plywood use case!!! ;)

Speaking of plywood... you could set up in the Home Depot parking lot and charge $5 a sheet to cut a notch or make it narrower for guys hauling the plywood home in their JT!

So for real. I have an actual post related questions for people who actually have used a plug like this in the field in actual weather conditions etc:

What can be plugged into and run from the oem outlet?

What can be plugged into and run from the after market outlet?

And, they made such strides in tech that 24 volt systems were overtaken by twelve volt systems. Why does my new JT have two batteries? And why did they hide one? Thanks in advance.
