Yesterday my 8.4" Uconnect froze up completely twice. It did it once this morning. All three times it was on start up. And may have happened while I plugged in my android phone. Only thing I could think to do was to shut the truck off and let the radio time out. The FM would play until it timed out. Started it back up and waited to plug in the phone and it worked fine. Today we're on a road trip to PA and my wife goes to back up after a put stop and the backup camera isn't coming up on the display now. The backup sensors are working fine. She tried shifting back into park and then back into reverse, nothing. And it still isn't coming up after a second stop.
Everything else, gps, radio, bluetooth, etc seem to be working fine.
Thoughts?

I would check the tail gate connection to make sure it is fully seated. Other than that, take it to the dealer and let them deal with it. Not unheard of for the actual tailgate camera sensor itself to take a dump.

I'm not even getting a blank screen like some have reported though, it just doesn't change from whatever is on the screen at the time.

Probably more reason to have the dealership troubleshoot it. Not 100% certain but I think the reverse signal for the radio rides on the can bus circuit and maybe software related. I know the JL reverse camera system also has a gateway module that interfaces with the radio.

Mine back-up camera has frozen or refused to come on a couple times in the past week. I reparked, shut the truck off and the frozen screen stayed up for 30 seconds or so (with radio playing) after I opened the door. Start back up and the head unit is sluggish, then would completely reboot. Also, I'm getting a lot of notices that my favorites are on, but when I touch the indicator, it says nothing is on.

I'm taking it in when I get a chance. It's under warranty and I'm not fiddling around with it. that's the dealership's job.

Sounds similar to what's going on with mine. I've got an appointment for Monday next week with a local dealer in NC. A dealer I talked to here in PA said they've had a couple similar cases with a wrangler and a Gladiator and they ended up having to replace the whole head unit.

I took it to a dealership in Kernersville and they did an update, that was on Monday, so far so good. Last week the camera started working again after a couple days and it only froze once between when I posted this and when I went to the dealer.

We're sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this concern. When you do have the opportunity to visit the dealer, please feel free to loop us in! If additional assistance is needed throughout your dealer visit, send us a PM. We'd be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to assist.

Today my screen was not responding to anything, it was playing music but I could not change the channel or turn up or down the volume or even shut if off. It decided to shut itself down after about five minutes and then turn back on again. It did this two more times in a row on a ten minute drive.
Has anyone ever had their issues with this resolved by the dealership?

This has happened to me a few times, but I haven't taken it in yet. I'm due my 15k service, so maybe this week.

Update: After talking to a service manager at my local dealership and describing the problem, he said, "We've had a couple jeeps come in with those problems, so I'll just order you a anew head unit." That was 2 weeks ago. It's supposed to be in today or tomorrow and I'll schedule a time next week or so to get it replaced.

I'm not looking forward to all the settings I have to adjust, but it'll be nice to have it fixed.

I hope that they will do the same thing for me as mine seems to be getting more unreliable every week. It freezes, reboots, and backup camera will not shut off after being put in drive.

That sounds a lot like the issues I've had.
