Dang alright thanks ! I got a call from dealership and they can’t find anything. It happens eveytime I drive off but the techs are having a hard time recreating the squeal. Kinda figured. I’ve only got a few months until warranty is out but I guess it’s just an annoyance that I’ll have to deal with .
I have this exact same noise at the start of every cold drive cycle. I too attributed it to the rear brake components just having a light corrosion layer that gets scrubbed off after a few rotations.

Whenever I take my 2023 gladiator out of park And into driveI I get an intermittent squeal. It sounds like it’s coming from the rear. I don’t ride the brake and im not accelerating . It does seem to quiet down after a bit. My jeep has been with the dealer under warranty for 4 days and I’m expecting they won’t be able to find the source . I saw a thread a while back with the exact issue and was seeing if any of it had gotten resolved and if not I hoping for some general insight from the jeep community! I posted a video of noise ! Thanks
As soon as you get it back, I would suggest trying to slowly apply the parking brake as you take off, if the noise returns and you can hear it, see it there’s any change in the sound, if no difference then at least you know it’s not the parking brake system. Good luck! I would also try liberally spraying your brake calipers and pads with brake cleaner if you’re hearing the noise, see if that makes any difference.

That makes a ton of sense! The more I’ve been reading up on it seems like the parking brake is the culprit. I’ll give all that a try and give updates! Thanks !

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem.

my 12 JTR started to get that standard brake screech like when your brake pads are low, but it wasn't when braking, but all the time, was constant, the only time it stopped was when I braked, I pulled it apart to find the front piston in the calliper wasn't backing out when I took my foot off the brake, off to the dealer, they assessed and replaced the calliper, of course on my way home from collecting, I can still hear the scraping, back to the dealer a couple of days later, lets see what they come up with next, collapsed brake line or warped rotor maybe, we will see ... point is, it started off small , like yours, before it became so obvious I knew something more sinister was going on, good luck
Slipshodman.....Your 2012 JTR must be a pre-pre-pre-pre production unit; the rest of us couldn't get them until 2020. :)

I have this too and I agree it seems to be parking brake related. I pretty much live with it. It does get quite annoying when going 5mph thru an otherwise quiet campground. I definitely get some looks from people. Would love to figure out the issue but also not high on the concern list

A rotational brake squeak that is not heard when the brakes are applied could be a bent axle flange. I’ve had that happen on a Jk and my previous JT.

For me it only occurs when driving slow after a cold start and lasts maybe a quarter mile. Basically until I speed up. So getting out of a parking lot, driving down an alley, through a campground etc. Then it is gone for the rest of the drive regardless of speed from there.

I finally resolved it in less than 30 mins! I found both rear brakes had pieces of broken retainer clips stuck behind pads . Michigan City IN Jeep states CUSTOMER STATES EVERY TIME THEY TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK VEHICLE
IS SQUEALING WHILE FOOT IS OFF THE GAS. PLEASE CHECK AND ADVISE
• STARTED HAPPENING IN REVERSE AS WELL • SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE - DID NOT VERIFY ABNORMAL ENGAGEMENT AT THIS TIME
They had my jeep from the 21 to the 27th.
The sales manager said the “tech” stated my brakes looked good. It was under a warranty claim.
Any how thanks for all the help and support! No more squealing ass jeep!
