Looked for something similar but no one seems to have exact post. Could just be me missing it.
I have a sport s with regular tow package. Added some take off overland wheels this weekend Thanks for advice folks.

Todays question . . . Is it worth adding fox shocks from a take off, and what would potential benefit be? I drive 90% on road and only off road is camp trails and fire roads etc. Wouldn’t do springs yet. Not looking to lift.

Smoother ride? Any thoughts on if it’s worth it. prices here in the Northeast run high and so probably eBay or forum them.

cheers in advance. A

If from a Rubicon, no. The Rubicon shocks aren't smoother on pavement. I don't think there's a benefit on road.

Swap the front springs and use fox take off and its a big improvement in my opinion. I much preferred this setup over my max tow front springs and shocks, maybe not softer but more controlled and less bouncy(Still running rear Max tows at stock height)Add a 3/4” spacers and you can easily run up to 35’s if you decide, or stay stock. It’s basically leveled. I think even just the shocks would help somewhat. It seemed like it made the rear less bouncy just changing the shocks.

I have a sport S and just added rubicon take off shocks. I mainly did it because I added a leveling kit (just front coil isolators) and didn't want to use shock extensions. You can feel a difference- they have a stiffer ride, but not uncomfortable. I still have the factory springs. IMO the jeep handles marginally better on the road now, and has slightly less of the cadillac ebb and flow it did before.

Have you considered looking at an adjustable shock? Something like the Falcons that have a couple settings that allow you to tune your ride. Also if you do this look at compressed/extended lengths, if you think you might lift 2 inches or so later don't get stock length shocks now that will be too short later. Just be sure that you have enough bump stop to use them.. that's my 2 cents

Well just my opinion after running Rubi take off shocks on my Sport S is that its not worth the bother. Get some better shocks

I have the Fox shocks from a Rubicon on my Overland - meh, good thing I didn't pay a whole lot for them. Not an upgrade at all, really, other than looks. Rougher ride, and I noticed if I drive off anything with a bit of a drop - like leaving my garage there's a 1" or so drop to prevent water from washing down the driveway right into the garage, when the rear wheels drop off that the back of the truck literally bounces a couple of times.
In the old days, I'd have told someone the shocks were bad if they bounce like that.

I swapped in Fox shocks and rubi front springs on my Max tow. The ride was a little stiffer but not in a bad way. It's not worth the time unless you get them for really cheap. It's more for looks, IMO.

With that said, I'm upgrading to Fox 2.0 external reservoirs.

Results are mixed, in my case I did it and I'm very happy, but I also did the rubi springs. They generally are found as a set with shocks and springs when someone is selling them.

Matching the Fox shocks and the Rubi springs, I'm very happy with the ride, it seems to dampen "woops, ruts, potholes and speed bumps" much better then the stock overland setup.

But then there's Papa's experience, seems like the fox and the max tow rear springs are not a good combo for some reason, like it's way over sprung for the fox shock.

I'd do the springs and shocks together from a Rubi, the lift is only about an inch, nothing dramatic.

Sounds like you're looking for a Mojave setup and Rubi take-offs might be counter productive?

I'm sure someone on here can give you information on how to re-create a similar setup in the aftermarket world as I would imagine probably not too many Mojave take-offs for sale?

I truly love my stock suspension setup and the way it handles. Still new to the truck but I'm also amazed how flat/minimal body roll I get on higher speed turns.

Good luck!

I have a Mojave with the Fox shocks. Last month in Texas my rental was a Gladiator Sport and the ride was night and day. If you get the shocks, get the springs too. 100% improvement.

I’ll add that I bought all 4 of my fox rubicon shocks for $240 shipped on eBay. I don’t think I’d spend much more than that for the swap, but well worth it for ~$60 each. It’s extremely easy to change these shocks yourself in your driveway- maybe 45 minutes for all 4 with tire removal and reinstall.

If you're not happy with the swap you can turn around and sell them for what you paid. I say give it a go.
