it is tough enough to sometimes get new gas ones off the trail if it breaks or to find parts to get it off the trail? just imagine how many jeep dealers dont have an ev tec or yrs down the line eaven geting parts at an orileys??? no thank you?

I'm no fan of the environmental impact of EV's, but I don't understand the hate for them. They are low maintenance and convenient. I have a 2013 Leaf I bought as a Lease Return in March of 2015. They replaced the Main battery under warranty in October of 2017. It still shows over 85% of original capacity. I even purchased the extended warranty, due to the high repair costs for the electrical components, that was never used. All I've had to do is replace tires, wiper blades, and the 12v battery. The latest emails show it only worth about $1500. It is in great condition, and I'll drive it until it just won't go anymore.

This is very misleading and highlights the anti-EV bias.

My GE charging station was $450 plus conduit, wire, and a breaker. I did the install myself. It may run up to $2000, if you hire an electrician. The $10k price tag is what a DC fast charger might cost, but most residential areas are lacking the infrastructure to support one of those.

Reason I'm not getting one at the moment: goes back to two factors its not quite as cheap to own yet (As far as I know, maybe I'm wrong here.) & the infrastructure. Being that lines were so old and out of date they wouldn't install an EV charging unit for hybid or otherwise at my location for at least the next several years. That and I am waiting on the day where I can pull into something resembling a station like a gas station to pull in and pull out after quick charge. I don't care if it costs me something, it costs me damn near 60-80 everytime as it is.
I'm sure that's the majority of the reasons for most of us. The recharge time alone makes it untenable for me. (The ethical problems are a consideration too) But the cherry on top is that way that pundits are acting like it's the best thing ever and there's no downsides and doing it in such an aggressive manner tells me they are hiding a lot. When the prius came out, I was nerding out pretty hard, but it wasn't a pick-up and I couldn't afford one anyway. Still can't afford one, and certainly can't afford an EV. Electric isn't a viable option yet. Throw in the government telling me I have to do something that's unproven, overly expensive and receiving gov subsidies and I'm a hard pass.

I see way more idiots out of gas on the side of the road than idiots out of charge on the side of the road. Obviously this means gas is worse.

Or it means people are dumb and will run out of range no matter what you give them ?

also am not making them into the worst thing ever with random off-base "what-ifs" about them in the meantime.
They are literally being pushed on us and the fuel industry destroyed based solely on WHAT IF....

That's the beauty of electric motors. The torque is always there. That's why nearly everything that requires tons of torque use electric motors like large ships, freight trains, etc.
