If it werent for politics and globalism, we’d be talking Diesel options instead of this battery crap

diesels don’t spontaneously combust like Lithium Ion does

Yep Volkswagen should of never been fined for the emissions numbers. They should of been asked how the hell are you getting those MPG out of diesel.

The inevitable recession will crush these Battery Dreams
I'm waiting on the aluminum production to belly up while they keep thinking it's the best option to reduce weight for EVs. It's 5 times more expensive than steel, more difficult to form (heat oxidation and cracking) and less corrosion resistant.... oh, and half the melting point on a car fire with twice the temperature :CWL:

You are aware Harley did the exact same thing and simply paid a fine? They weren’t crucified and left for the carrions to feast of their corpse

again, without going too far into it (can pm chat if ya want about it), its all political, as how could you sell an EV if there were diesels capable of double, possibly triple the range, but without the anxiety, drastic drops (lose 40% charge under 40f for example) or wait time (You cant sell a half hour charge as convenient)

not to mention unless you’re super boosting and not reinforcing the block, diesel is a ton less likely to spontaneously combust vs a fickle EV. If I were a landlord, I’d never allow an EV at any of my properties, not gonna risk

Exactly xD Again, a solution we never asked for to a problem we could easily solve with a regime change, DM for further decisions

Aluminum and battery powered cars in the salt belt will be awesome!

That's the rub: VW fell out because though they got exceptional MPG, they cheated the testing to get lower NOx emissions... when every other manufacturer of diesel passenger cars was doing a variation of to achieve similar results. Jeep and Ram got a slap on the wrist compared the VW.

This is the thing that demonstrates that EV’s are NOT economically viable currently. How many of them would be selling, especially at the relative premium over IC, without a government subsidy or, in some cases, a mandate / prohibition. And remember, there is no such thing as a free lunch. That tax return came from Somewhere…..
The bigger issue is the inability to go on a long trip when it takes hours to recharge. Until they remedy that, we're happy with a PHEV.

Yep I was following all of that, but I see it as how much over the emissions were that? How much MPG were they getting? There is a offset even with a high emissions standard. One truck gets 16mpg with meeting standard and one gets 32mpg with 15% higher emissions. Double the fuel economy for 15% higher no Brainer to me, but I am not a politician.

Ditto, more just a general disclaimer so any mods moderating don't be like "HE'S TALKING POLITICS, TIME TO BAN HIM!!!" (or warn in my case)

Double the MPG for 15% higher emissions? I doubt any normal person would be outraged, especially at an affordable price

VW was still crucified and used to go after Diesels though. Mopar got a slap as the death blow to passenger diesels was already done at that point

Aluminum and battery powered cars in the salt belt will be awesome!
Michael Bay would love it

Your first mistake is attempting to apply logic to anything politically adjunct. Especially if it is in the environmental sphere. The green lobby has long since departed the land of reason and dialogue and firmly implanted itself in dogmatic diatribes and binary decisions. Just like every other politically charged issue but I digress.

And to your second point, I never once saw a comparison of NOx emissions over similar miles driven on a full tank of fuel for say, a Jetta gas or diesel but again... that's not the point. The point was that the govt didn't like someone else cheating to beat the bureaucratically determined threshold for emissions.

LOL. No matter who any of us voted for last time, we all voted for a piece of shit. That's what you get when the lesser of two evils is the only choice you're given.

Again, I'd love to know the total emissions for an entire tank of fuel vs range, etc. But that would require logic being inserted and well, that just doesn't fly.

True, and if they were truly smart, they'd be like "Waitasecond, it's been over 50 years and nothing we said came true"

And also, can't have EV's with diesel around, had to kill off the competition while it was still emerging and then mock it after they killed it off. I also live my life liking whatever the system hates

Right wing/Left Wing, same dirty vulture. I'm basically Libertarian, just leave me alone, don't force shit I don't want upon me and we're all good

I'll post it in a bit, but we're actually approaching carbon starvation anyway.
Now waiting for the sheep to post their fake news, "Fact checks", and other garbage to counter the facts

When people have already decided their views, whether right or wrong, they stick to them. They won't change their mind, won't consider other points of view, and ridicule those who provide other views, so attempts become pointless and people quit trying.
