The ota updates to the infotainment system are good enough to pin you in a few block radius. Even if you didn't sign up for extra services, checks for updates every time you start the engine, and really screws with things if you are running a tazer sometimes, just depends on the update

Yup. Though @Sweetums is correct. There is a huge difference between knowingly allowing your vehicle, phone, pet, whatever to be tracked by a third party, versus a covert tracking device being attached to you or property without your knowledge or permission. I don't understand why this is the least bit controversial.

It’s not controversial at all but sweetbreads seems to want to make it that way. “Tracking devices” that can be removed or disarmed or not allowed are only part of the problem. Trackers installed for ‘security and convenience’ in modern vehicles cannot be disarmed so there is no such thing as a “clean modern vehicle”. As one poster pointed out if you have satellite radio you are being tracked. The only solution is to buy an older vehicle that has none of that stuff and of course turn off your phone (that ought to get sweetbread’s dander up).
