Or go to harbor freight and get a socket and torque wrench
I've got enough torque wrench calling around now to find that damn socket looks like I have to remove a part to get to the nut

That's scary.

This basic design has been used for many years on many vehicles but it sure bothers me that there's nothing to keep the nut from backing all the way off and the pitman arm coming off. I'd be much happier if it had something like a keeper washer underneath of the nut where you bend up an ear to keep the nut from turning.

One advantage of those steering box stabilizer setups is that they have a bearing under the pitman arm so the arm itself is captured. At least that's how they are for a Ram 2500. Correct me if I am wrong on the Jeep versions of them.

Over 10 years ago I bought this 1 11/16th impact socket to loose a washing machine tub nut. Happy to report it worked fine on the pitman nut. Thanks for the FAST help and advice you all. Seriously.

This isn’t that bad to get to… just put an extension on. I literally just did this a couple months ago adding the sector shaft brace. There should be enough room to snug it up with an impact too…

Edit- missed your post with the extension and impact.

you get it done?
