2020 Mojave here and had the light go out on me not long after taking delivery. As they pulled it into the bay it started working but they replaced anyway under warranty. Have not noticed since it not working.

Sorry, side question. When did they start using a third brake light that flashes 3 times when hitting the brake. I have a 2020 and it doesn't flash.
And Washington only requires two brake lights so the 3 rd is just extra.

Those are usually done with a Tazer, or programmed to do that, or a flasher is spliced in.

Usually all states require it, if it was OE... you could just be getting away without one because of no safety inspection.

Yeah, might be required due to being standard equipment. The state requirements are written stating 2 brake lights. My JT still sports the 3rd light. My Wrangler however doesn't.

Wondering if anyone else has issues with the third Brake Light. I was going to take a pic of my tailgate and i had someone push the brake petal and the tailgate light did not light up. Any way i can troubleshoot this issue. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Of course, I am never in the back of the truck bc usually driving it. Thank you
Yes. At 16k miles last year. Dealer replaced under warranty. Expensive part to fix

I took my tailgate apart and cleaned the connections and added some dielectric grease. It works, sometimes. No inspection in AZ so I give up. It’s not worth the hassle at the dealer.

This is super common. 99.99% it’s light assembly

BTW, I did take it to the dealer right after my issue started. Guess what? It worked when I got there, so they didn’t want to replace it. They wanted me to drop it off for a few days to check it out. 😡 I left.

The CHMSL is federally-required equipment. Just because you don’t have a state inspection doesn’t mean you can’t get cited for it being faulty.
And mine quit after about a year: the lamp assembly was bad.

Same in Oklahoma, no inspections, no smog. Even 1/3 of the trailers on the road don't have working lights, cops don't even seem to care.

Quite common to see farm trucks blowing blue smoke, single working headlight pulling an overloaded trailer with no safety chains and missing trailer lights 75 mph down the interstate.....

It must have changed. I remember failing OK inspection when I was at Ft. Sill LOL but that was 30 years ago

You are correct, state inspection ended in 1999 I believe. I don't believe trailer tags/registration has ever really been a thing here though.

@ORACLElights or someone else should make a third brake light replacement. If someone knows of one please post a link.
