Hmmm. If only one could get a recent satellite photo of the Toledo plant, and see if there were hundreds of complete Wranglers and Gladiators sitting there waiting for trains.

"The factory that makes the parts isn't the same factory that handles the actual assembling of the parts. Crazy huh?"
Bull.
These are assembled on a CAMPUS. The Jeep is assembled and then shipped to the body vendor for the hard top headliner, spray-in bed liner, sill guards, but it's fully assembled in the Toledo facility.
They do sometimes refer to going to the other vendors - ON THE SAME CAMPUS - as shipping, but it's all done there.

Check out the complex map pdf below..............

Mine is pretty much fully loaded. If anything had to go out it would have been mine!
An employee told me the status and said it was done, but went to the body vendor for a couple of things. It had been assembled, inspected, and was past final inspection otherwise.

I supposed they could have run out of parts and are using left over stuff from years ago.
To the OP - just make sure when you turn on the headlights, all 3 of them come on........

Well I don't feel quite as bad now about my dealer experience. (unless it's the same guys)

on a side note, anyone know where they ship spare frames from? They are telling me there's no way to tell how long it'll take, only that it's got to arrive on a truck (doesn't everything?).

I tried searching the forum for something like this and could not find any info about it... After seeing that my order was shipped on 6/25 and delivery is TBD, I reached out to my sales rep. I received the below head scratching reply. Can someone please help explain?

"So looks like your vehicle is finally being shipped from the manufacture... It has a Vin and all, however it's not being shipped as a whole car.. just by the parts. Its on the way from Toledo to Dixiana SC to be properly assembled. So we're definitely getting somewhere, but not quite just ready yet."
I would say that your sales rep is feeding you a line of CRAP!!!!

So, I wrote back asking for additional details. The rep's reply: "The factory that makes the parts isn't the same factory that handles the actual assembling of the parts. Crazy huh?" Maybe I should just stick with communicating directly with Jeep.
While technically true that many of the parts and assemblies are build elsewhere, the VIN isn't assigned until they are ready for final assembly. There are a few options that get added after the truck leaves the factory, like a bed liner. But that is installed right down the road in another building near the assembly line. The only items that might not be installed before it is shipped are any dealer installed accessories you ordered.

Your salesperson has no clue how Jeep builds and ships things. Don't rely on them for any accurate information, they are pulling things out of their ass and are wrong.

The VIN is assigned well before there is even a build scheduled. There's no reason to wait to assign a VIN - The VIN doesn't rely on anything other than what is it, what will go into it.
Mine had a VIN a month before it was even in D1, before it was scheduled - and then that schedule changed.
The assembly took place almost 2 months after the VIN was assigned and for others, it's even longer. They may have a vin a couple of months before it's scheduled because they don't have the parts and the acquisition of parts is open-ended.

Manufacturing plant (final assembly) need to clear space off their shipping lots. With all these “shortages” they’ve moved vehicles all over the US now. We have a few lots full of new vehicles all over Phoenix area. They are waiting a few components and will be off to the dealers as soon as they come in. As they sit if they are missing one part, like rear view mirror, they are not considered complete thus can’t be on a dealer lot since auto dealers are independent from auto makers. I’ll try to take a pic next time I drive by that lot. There is no auto final assembly in AZ. Once completed they’ll likely go to nearby dealers or adjacent state. It’s likely even a vehicle ordered will be treated the same way.

I guess I should just be pretty happy that the order shipped only a month after my order. Even if it has a 2 month ride on the train, it'll still be ahead of schedule!

He’s not wrong here. He just drew the wrong conclusion hence his first comment. You should ask him where babies come from. Might be entertaining.
