Also from the front, similarities with the wide fenders and the skinny body.

I mean you literally just described a majority of pickup trucks out there...

I see a ton of dissimilarities though.....

I can't imagine anyone gets into their Gladiator and goes "Wow, it's great how much this pays homage to the old Ford trucks". This is coming from a realist ?

I suppose to each their own, but I sure can't see it.

I think a lot of your visual comparison is based on the body line created by the fender flares "connecting" by the running boards.

You ditch those running boards and the whole comparison falls apart.
