JEEP SEATS - UGG!

After months and months of research, I finally pulled the trigger on a new Eco Deisel Rubicon Gladiator (est $65K). Everything was just great until my wife and I began taking some multi-hour trips -- that's when she began experiencing back issues. Long journey short, due to the non-adjustability of the Jeep seat, my wife is now not able to take any trips in the Jeep without back issues. This being the case, if I'm not able to do something about this seat issue I'll be having to sell my new ride for a non-Jeep truck.

Can any of you fellas lend some 411 solutions to my present dilemma?

Is the Mojave seat more adjustable?
Is there some other seat that will work?
Do you think it's worth it to have a custom adjustable seat fabricated for under 2K?

Both my wife and I have back issues. We have found the Sport S seats more than adequate. She even commented that it was comfortable on long rides

I replaced the front seats with Recaros, and it was the best thing I did. They completely changed the Jeep. There are varying levels of Recaro seats, but I installed their top-end comfort seats with airbags; it wasn't cheap at ~$8k, but the best modification I have done by far. They have electric tilt, lumbar, bolsters, recline, and ventilation. They're on manual slides.

Desert Does It - Seat Jackers.

My upgraded MOPAR “Stitched” seats and above are far superior to a previous 2019 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro.

I also have a Quadratech- Deal Pedal.

I have not one flaw complaint with my self ordered 2022 Mojave.
December immediate 550 mile round trip on a Saturday morning. Could have kept driving.

Desert Does It – Seat Jackers: Seat Slammers

So my initial purpose for this mod was because I’m tall. I didn’t like the fact that I had to ever so slightly tilt my neck forward to prevent my head from coming close to the main hoop.


The Seat Slammer package fixed several issues. First, the system is variable, (on installation), with a maximum drop of the rear portion of the seat of 2 inches, elevating the head to bar issue. Secondly, the front of the seat is elevated between ½ and ¾ of an inch…I can’t remember. Ultimately, it rotates the seat where you get what the factory positioning lacks is thigh contact / support with the seat, reduced or elimination butt and back fatigue.


An added bonus is that my right knee no longer rests on the X-fer case shift lever, which created a hotspot – pain. Now, my knee rests behind the lever while in 2wd and is a non-issue in other modes.


While new custom seats sound great, they are VERY expensive, and no longer needed. The factory leather / marine grade vinyl seats are very comfortable and a fraction of a fraction of the price.

Get the seat jackers! I had the same exact issue. Go for the shorter/smaller version. Made a HUGE difference!

Try adding a couple washers under the front 2 bolts. I raised the front about a 1/2” but my butt was already used to the original position so I felt an ache pretty quickly. Some people love it.

Another vote for seat jackers. Made the biggest impact to ride comfort for me. I might throw in some comfy sheep seat covers later on down the road for that 70's grandma couch feel.

If I find a spare $8, those Recaro seats look amazing.

As a short person, I had to go with a seat cushion as the last thing I needed was the seat to be deeper like with the seat slammers\jackers.

I've heard others go to upholstery shops and have them redo the seat cushion with better/softer foam

Those look great! I have AEV seats but if I ever build a rig from scratch that’s what I would use.

Question: how did they impact the space under the seats. At the very least l plan an a radio below the front passenger seat.

Please don't do that. It will compromise safety integrity of the mount.
The seat jackers are worth every penny and more. They maintain the integrity of the mount and raise the front of the seats just enough to support your legs properly.

that being said my original post said “try” using washers to lift the front… to avoid spending $100 on some aluminum blocks only to find they don't help.

almost every mod we do on these things can compromise safety and integrity but we all need the reminder, I guess.

Mojave is always the answer
Ole lady and I took a trip from Florida to Minnesnowta and back, wasn't too bad. We normally take long trips in her Lexus, but it doesn't have 4wd and we knew a snow storm was going through while we were there and decided on the Mojave. It really wasn't bad, though we didn't push it either - like 8-12hr drives each day. We are in our 40's if that helps.
