Jeep Wave Threshold (¬_¬)

I wave regardless and don't worry if I get a wave back. Sooner or later folks that aren't aware its a thing will realize its only the jeep drivers waiving at them and maybe they will start to wave back.
No biggie either way. Just be friendly.

Heck I have even been told by some old grizzler, if you drive anything newer than a TJ I don't wave at you... you don't know what it's about! Get off my lawn, ...okay we were at a bar and he moved two seat further lol

I got told once by a guy in a JK Unlimited parked next to my Gladiator that he "doesn't wave at Gladiators because they aren't Jeeps". He didn't realize the CHERRY 1981 CJ-8 Scrambler next to my JT was my wife's. I asked how it was he didn't consider the Gladiator a truck when the Scrambler, a CJ with a 5 foot bed, existed 23 years before any unlimited was ever on a street, and 7 years before the "Wrangler" moniker existed. He didn't have a good answer. Gatekeeping is real.

I wave at every CJ/Wrangler/JT because it made me feel good to feel included 20 years ago when I got into Wranglers, and I want to encourage everybody to be a better part of this community.

My mid 60's mother had my modded JK for a week and told me it was weird but neat then almost annoying in that short time haha. Now she says she notices every single Jeep on the road where she didn't pay much attention before... I think she needs a nice Sahara 4xe now haha

Female here and I wave at all Wranglers and Gladiators, sometimes with my hair pulled up into a ponytail slapping me in the face with the windows down.

Those that don't wave - their problem, not mine!

I'm new to Jeep culture - bought a Gladiator in October of 2022. I was aware of the Jeep wave beforehand, and poked a lot of fun at it. Wasn't long after driving off the dealer lot that I started getting waves. Now I'm out there waving at everything, even Renegades

I see a lot of inconsistency in my parts, but almost seems to be modded Jeep fellers/felletts do wave more than un-modded Jeep folk. Anecdotally, them angry eyes folk seem to not wave at all.

I find it to be a game - I'm going to wave just to be friendly no matter how often I get the no-wave - thinking the positive thoughts that they're just being focused on driving and staying in their lane instead of intently looking into the windshield of someone heading towards them to see if they're waving back.

IMO angry eyes are dumb!! The train grills too.

Hit and miss with my JT - some do, some don't. It's stock from the appearance other than the bug deflector and steel bumper and winch. It's not lifted, it's on basic A/T tires - but still get the wave now and then. Oddly, other Gladiator drivers are NOT the ones who wave. It's Wrangler type drivers who do the wave.
On the other hand, I had to explain to my wife why guys were giving her the wave when she drove her new purple Wrangler home.
I told her to expect to get a heck of a lot of waves while driving a tall Rubicon Wrangler around town. I said "just give 'em the wave back".
Crap, now I suppose I have to watch out for guys asking if she's single when she's out shopping with it.

Ha! I actually got in trouble with the Mrs when I waved at the driver of a JL - she said I shouldn't be waving to women I don't know. I was then in a predicament ... I could either try to (re)explain the wave thing, or admit that I really can't tell what type of person is driving when waving and then have to discuss whether my vision needs checking! No-win situation!
