Jeep Won't Start, No Errors

Driving down a dirt road ran over a large branch and the truck quit running and now it won't start. Acts like no fuel or no spark, not sure which. Any thoughts? Limited on what I can check with basic tool set. No meter.

Just so others know the symptoms if they encounter the same issue. After I ran over the branch, the Jeep went about 20 feet and the dash stated to put the truck in neutral before starting and the motor had quit. Put it in park and it stumbled and quit several times. Could not shift into neutral. After several start attempts it started just turning over until the starter protect engaged with no sounds of ignition at all. Putting the key up to the start/stop button it began turning over and stumbling dead again. Assumed electronic issue so disconnected both batteries and waited a minute or two. No change. Climbed under Jeep and found the black hose pictured below looked kinked so I straightened it out and the Jeep started right up. As stated below, now my HVAC is AFU. Looks like it's going to the dealer anyway.

Not really helpful but was it a large enough impact for it to think it was in a collision? Some vehicles cut the engine and fuel to prevent fire in case of collision.

Big enough bump to knock a connector off a terminal of one of the batteries?

Call the dealer and have them come get it.

Shouldn't have assumed collision, just ran a 6" log over at slow speed. It wedged between the ground and Rick rail. Tow truck has been dispatched.

Disconnect the battery cables and leave them off for a minute then put them back on that might clear everything out and get you started

The upper hose in the picture was kinked. Now my HVAC doesn't work. I assume disconnecting the batteries scrambled something as now it won't allow a temperature selection, only hi or lo and no matter if it's hi or low it blows scorching hot unless I turn on max ac. I was able to get it running and get home sovat least there's that.

Offroad pages are gone too. Found that if I hold the up/down temp buttons the temperature will change, it just doesn't show on the screen. I can drag the screen from low to a specific temperature, it will show said temperature for about 5 secs then it goes back to Lo.

hmm, I'm very confuzzled by this whole event. Doesn't sound like you did anything crazy at all. Looking forward to any further updates.

Are those fuel supply and return lines? Kinked fuel line would definitely cause the first sequence of events...

It's not like any fuel line I've ever encountered but certainly wouldn't rule it out. The bigger hose is labeled as Permblock PB550-50. Both are what I would consider a very thin tubing material more than a hose. If it is fuel line I think we're in for issues in the future, especially in cold climates.

That's running along the passenger side of the transmission. It goes up under the hood going forward and cuts back out toward the frame rail going back but it's behind a plate so I can't see if it goes all the way back to the tank or not.

Well, looks like I will be skipping the trip to the dealer. Went to the store Saturday and the UConnect is back to normal. All the apps that were missing have returned and I can once again set the temperature for climate control. At some point I want to go by and see if they can identify what the "tube" was that got kinked but until then I will chalk it up as bad luck. I do need to see about fabbing something to protect that tubing as I can with near certainty say that won't be the last time a foreign object visits that portion of the underbelly of the truck and would be pretty upset if it straight quit half way through a water fording in Kisatchie somewhere.

D like you have a loose intermittent cable connection somewhere, I would take it back to the dealer and have it checked
