Thanks for the post. Definitely a lot easier your way than pulling off parts in order to takeoff the serpentine belt. Definitely a duck knuckle buster job though.

Thank you for this! I installed one last night.

A couple of notes...

1. The pry-bar trick is amazing to release tension on the serpentine.

2. I used a KAT brand heater. 11814. My big mistake was not realizing that the cord can be unplugged from the heater itself. I spent 3 hours trying to fit the heater into the hole, because with the cord still attached, the unit is too long to fit in the space you have to work with. Rookie mistake.

3. The screw is M6x1 but it needs to be a screw, not a bolt. There is not enough space to get a bolt head in there.

While straight forward, getting my hands and arms up into that space was terrible and painful.

Plugged in all night with my 2018 JLU and oil temp was 58deg F. Outside temp was around zero.

Giving a bump here. The dealer told me like 800 bucks to install said it was NOT easy... I live in MT and we get double digit below zero (personal "best" 41 below) every year for about six weeks, late Jan/early Feb usually.

This looks "relatively" easy. So the biggest "issue" is the removal and replacement of the serpentine belt and much appreciated to OP on the pry bar trick...

Oh what are the parts prices.

I just found out tonight i dont have a block heater on my 26, my window sticker doesnt list it and the interwebz is saying has to be ordered. Weird as im in Canada and they used to be standard on anything driving up in this midwest/SW ontario/great white north.

Im surprised, debating about installing one for next year. My wife’s 18 Journey came standard with it.

Yeah found out that way with buying in Alaska as well. Had the cold winter package but it doesn't come with a block heater. Very unfortunately.

Just did this on my '22 Gladiator that my son is taking to North Pole, Alaska. The thing that makes it difficult is just getting to everything. Very tight space to try to work. Thank you, OP, for this writeup. You saved us several thousand dollars. Gladly traded some scrapes and busted knockles for it!
