Has anybody mounted MaxTrax to the Upper Decker Tent Brackets on the side? Just got my tent brackets today and plan on trying to figure that out. Not mounting a tent but planning on using the brackets for Kayaks/Canoe

My Upper Decker is out for delivery today. I'm scheduled to get the bed sprayed with Bullet Liner next week. Should I wait for the liner before I install it? I was planning on installing the upper decker then unbolting it for the liner to be installed but I'm a little concerned that the thickness of the liner may shift the upper decker and leave me with leaks. Any thoughts?

I would install, then remove but put bolts back in the zertnuts before liner installed. Otherwise you might need to remove some of the liner when you drill holes to place zerts in.

Thanks. Any concern that the liner will effectively push the hinges from the bulkhead and shift the upper decker backward enough to have an impact on alignment?

It shouldn't make much of a difference. Depends how thick the liner ends up being. The weatherstripping has to be placed pretty precisely to get a good seal. I didn't do the best job on that and have new seals to put on in the spring.

Thanks; appreciate your thoughts. I think I'll go ahead and install and align the front seal slightly further back than recommended. Worst case it would not be a huge deal to replace that seal down the road.

Hey all.

Question. Love this set-up. Want to order. But I'm not particularly handy.

How hard is this to install?

Alternatively, could I bring this to someone and have them install for me? How much do you think it would run.

I am in the Kansas City area.

Thanks.

Chris

Wasn’t too hard to install but you do need a nutzert tool.

installing the gas struts was the hardest part. Just really tight getting your hands inside to thread the bolts. Also, it is definitely a two person job if you don't have a way to hoist the upper decker up and hold it in place...scroll back through the entire thread and you can see pictures of how I did it and how others did it. Just saw another JT locally sporting one, so glad to see Ace is getting their products out there. I installed their front inner fenders a couple of weeks ago when putting on my MetalCloak fenders and they were pretty easy and add a nice look.

Thanks everyone.

I'll be placing an order today!

On another note - does anyone have a list of the aftermarket stuff that they've successfully mounted to your rack (towers for cross bars, cross bars, bike mounts, etc...)? Might be good to put that on here so folks can see the potential and get ideas.

Cheers!

I will be doing that this spring. I have the tent brackets now but still in the box. Waiting for warmer weather to mount them and start other mods. Plan on brackets for my MaxTraxx, kayak brackets, and bike racks....... no tent!!

Can anyone who has installed this and has (or had) the Trail Rail system confirm is the side rails are:

1) Compatible with the install
2) Still value added

thanks

You must remove the trail rails.

Clarification - know that the back rail has to be removed.

Do the side ones need to go as well?
Yes, because of the way the shocks mount. They use the same hole that the trail side rails use at the back of the bed.
