How are you getting them swapped out at this point? With Sears no longer being a thing pretty much everywhere.

I have my grandfather's tools and craftsman cabinets and I can say for sure the ones I got from him are still solid. The recent move to selling them at lowes has been a bit of a turn off for me, not going to lie. Have you tried those ones yet?
I had broken a 5/8" 1/2" drive socket - I used it with my Milwaukee mega-impact and a swivel and so was at a tad of an angle. My bad for sure! I was abusing a standard socket on an impact that's capable of busting bolts. I took it to Lowe's and asked - do you guys....... and the response - we sure do!
Now time has passed and they don't stock my preferred 6 point sockets, it's almost all 12 now, but that's ok as this wasn't my only 6 point 5/8" socket. Iv'e got tools in my wood shop upstairs, in my garage, in my main shop and in a couple of other tool boxes and drawers. But they didn't even hesitate. The problem was there wasn't even a place for a 6 point socket, the guy said for some sizes they can't even get them any more. Had I been insistent on a 6 point for THAT socket, then, well...... I'd have looked around...........
So it's possible that with the changing world, some things COULD be a problem, but most things not really.

I have a Carlyle 5/8" 1/2" drive 6 point from NAPA and that thing is so thin where the ratchet drive goes in - there's no real meat on the corners of that square hole. I'm afraid that one, if it breaks, will go on that end, not where it fits the bolt! Talk about THIN, wow. My new Craftsman has twice as much meat there for sure! I trust it over the NAPA socket.

Good to know that lowes takes care of them, might keep me continue on craftsman where it makes sense. Though my main set has both 12 and 6 points....

I know all about not going to thin on things. My favorite was the time I broke a ratchet by putting to much force on it. I was just baffled how that happened. I can say I have been twice as hard on the craftsman ones and never done anything.

I broke a 1/2" socket wrench. Only tool I'd ever broken from Craftsman. I took it to Sears. Yes, Sears is still a thing - I've got 2 within 20 minutes of me. The guy looked under the counter, said "normally we have refurbed ones here, but we're out, so..." and went and got a brand new one. Handed it to me, and I was done. No paperwork, no warranty claim, nothing. Just "oh, here you go, have a good one."

I'm gonna miss Sears just for that very reason.
I've not tried taking a broken Pittsburgh tool back to HF.

I think the last one by me is closing down. Last Kmart closed about 4 years ago. I had assumed Sears wasn't a thing anymore because craftsman went other places.

Last time I took a ratchet back to Sears I was handed a rebuild kit and told to do it on my own.... Not a big deal, but not the service I was used to in the past.

Wanted to revive your thread?
Not so much that. Just its been 5 years and there are new things out there compared to 5 years ago. I need to make a trip to HF so why create a new thread when there is one? i dont get off on just resurrecting old threads for the hell of it. Doesnt do much for me.

Not new and exciting tech but I just got a low profile 3 ton Daytona floor jack, online coupon made it $149 so about $50 off regular price.

Nice. I honestly could use a new jack. I have an old "big red" jack. I dont remember where it came from, but its missing any kind of jack puck attachment.

I just stopped at HF yesterday to get a few things for my new 2023 Mojave. I picked up a new tow strap since my old one was heavily used. I also got some cheap ratchet straps to help secure stuff in the back. I also got a pair of their rubber wheel chocks to replace using two pieces of 2x4. Nothing too exciting but they should all prove to be useful.

I just bought a good step stool. Retails for $39. Cupon price is $29 and ITC price is $19. It depends on how much you buy from them though.
