Mine has worked only once since I’ve gotten it almost a month ago. My cluster shows the message about cabin heating or cooling. My AC is not set to LO either. Messed around with brake pedal pressure as well. I’m not mad because I don’t love (or hate the ESS).

And mine tells me if it's not working because of battery charging, cabin temperature, or engine temperature, etc.
If you have the AC set to 68 and it's not yet down to 68 and the AC system isn't to the point it could maintain temp with the engine off, it won't shut down. When mine does on a hot day after about 40 seconds or so it starts again.

How about if not using AC? We had a couple mornings in the 50’s or afternoons in the 60’s where I didn’t have AC/anything on. Still have same message.

Was it actually OFF, disabled, or just not set?

Mine is the exact same.
2500+ miles, and not once has it kicked in.
Maybe some old school engineers at Jeep got tired of the ESS and made changes in the software so that it virtually never kicks in...lol
That guy would be a hero in my book!

I've had mine in the last 2 months start occasionally giving me the start/stop error light and a quick message pops up then goes away. When I scroll to the page it just says something like "service the start stop system" it has yet to say why it isn't working. I hit the button to turn it off immediately after starting the engine so I don't care that it has been finnicky, still weird though.

If I was you I'd take it to the dealer to have the battery(s) checked - the fact it's seeing an issue could one day leave you with a dead battery.
You can always keep turning it off that way or later get a device - but I do suggest getting it looked at. My wife's Grand Cherokee got to the point both batteries needed to be replaced.

People need to understand this whole start/stop thing was never intended to be a crowd pleaser, it's purely compliance. If it works in the testing cycles that is literally all that matters.

There's at best a few dozen people out there who love it and embrace it and get a little tickle down there when they save gas. Otherwise, nobody cares.

LOL - so right. Me? It doesn't bother me. I get it, I understand it's there, and I know it started in Asia and Europe and came here. I also know and have a list of places that have "idling laws" and ordinances and I see the writing on the wall. It's here, like it or not, hate it or not. We adapt and move forward. In 10 years no one will even think about it.
It's like new rules at work - the old timers griped and moaned and groaned and hated them, the newer people or people just coming on staff- no big deal, they didn't give a rip.

I dont care where it started. I don't care where it ends up in 10 years. I only care about where it is right now and it's pure garbage that is meant to appease regulators and only regulators. Perhaps they sort it out in 10 years, bet it takes longer, but that doesn't pertain to today. Like I said, someone will get a rise in the britches from it fancying themselves as the leading edge, and fine whatever. But call me when it is meaningful (which won't happen, because we will be full EV before we get to a place where start stop answers anything of meaning, but keep them britches risen).

Have a 21 gladiator and a 19 wrangler both with stop start . Just had to have the battery for the stop start replaced on wrangler . If it goes bad the battery doesn’t charge therefore stop start doesn’t work . Dealer fixed it no problem .

I have had my 21' Gladiator for almost a month. I have right at 2k miles on it.
I absolutely love it. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
I have 2 questions for you guys.
First one is about the stop/start.
So far, my gladiator has not done the stop/start cycle. Not 1 single time.
I have not pressed the override button, it just doesn't do it.
I'm glad it doesn't and I hope it never does.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Second thing I had a question about was the engine temperature.
The gladiator seems to get to operating temperature extremely fast.
My other vehicles always took a few minutes to get up to the operating temp.
The gladiator does it almost instantly.
Is there some sort of heating mechanism to get the engine up to temp very fast?
I have the same issue with mine. I do not want it to work either like most, though I want ti to work so if I ever trade it in, I am not dinged for not having something working on it. Just like my back up camera is blurry compared tot he front camera. Anyone seen that?

My back up camera quality is really rough and blurry, though the front is like looking at a sports game using 5K.

Have you cleaned the backup camera? Otherwise take it to the dealership.
