Last days of 2019, can I get 7% under invoice for a Gladiator on the lot?

Hey,

Over the last coupe of months, I've been on and off with purchasing a gladiator...the time has come. :)

With just a few days left in 2019, I'd like to purchase a rubicon gladiator for 7% under invoice (or better). I'm in Austin TX.

I know folks were getting 5-7% under the invoice for gladiators they ordered. I was hoping to purchase one off the lot.

I've had a hard time trying to sell my 2014 FJ Cruiser privately, bad time of year to try and sell something. I'll be trading it in. The trade-in values have been fair.

Sorry if this question has been asked before....

Thanks ;)

Nyle Maxwell on 620 is advertising discounts that are about 12% off MSRP, which I believe is approximately 7% under invoice. I asked about it and it was contingent on having a trade-in, and financing through them. I was looking at a non discounted sport with a sticker of $39,475 and asked for a real price, no trade-in, no financing, and they immediate dropped $3,100 off. I didn't go any further because it wasn't configured how I wanted.

I think you'd stand a good chance of getting 7% under invoice if they have a vehicle to your specs and you go through the game with them.

The best deals I've ever seen were from people who bought on new years eve. Dealerships want to move units, and will make the deal as long as it's not absurd. I got mine on black Friday and walked off the lot with a 46.5k stickered JT for 40.1k after taxes tags and whatnot, almost 20% off MSRP. I don't know how the auto market is Texas is doing cause I'm in Maryland but generally if the vehicle is on the lot it's not making them money and they will do everything in their power to sell it. If you want one off the lot, pick one they have, subtract 15% their sticker, add taxes, tags and whatnot, then go in and tell them that's all you got and see if they'll do it.

I got 6% off invoice off the lot last Friday. 7% would be tougher but if you go on NYE you may be able to.

As a data point, I test drove a Sport S with Max Towing and cold weather options back in October. They offered me $2,000 below MSRP and that was it. After speaking with the Internet sales rep, she said she could go to 4% below invoice if I ordered a JT. I said that was cool, but I needed to sell my Jeep Comanche first. She said she understood and no problem.

Like you, I was having a hard time selling my Comanche during the holidays. I wanted $4,000 and I felt strongly it was a fair price. When my online ad expired, I listed it at again $4,400. A guy showed up on Christmas day and said, "Will you take $4,000?". I told him I absolutely would.

The next day I emailed the Internet rep again and mentioned I saw the Sport S I test drove back in October was still on the lot; along with more than thirty other Gladiators. I asked if she could give me a better price on that JT since December is slow, they had a lot of inventory and she could post a sale up on her board. Surprisingly, she agreed and dropped the price by another $1,000. Shoot, maybe I should have held out for a lower price.

Thus, I think it's likely you can get a good deal, if not a screaming deal, right now. Seems FCA is really starting to crank out the Gladiators and they're dumping them by the truckload onto dealer lots.

Good luck, have fun and remember to always be polite while being persistent.

I'm finding 20% under MSRP on a 2020 Gladiator Sport in 2019 hard to believe, outside of some crazy trade or interest rate. If not, I don't think anyone has touched a deal like that. Great deal.

Don't know what to tell you man, 46,625 sticker, paid 40100 in total - 347 for registration, title, security, and temp tags, leave me at 39753 take off the 6% Maryland tax and get 37502, which is 19.57% off unless my math is bungled somewhere

But going back to my other post op obviously if you start that low be prepared to go up from there if necessary.

Getting a percentage off a vehicle when you are trading something in means nothing. Sure they can show you 15% off MSRP but they will make it up by low balling your trade. I had a vehicle to trade in when I bought my JT, the dealer would only do 1% off invoice so I worked them over on my trade. I knew going in what the KBB trade in value was on my trade and that's what they originally offered. I was able to get way more for my trade through negotiations, so in the end you can say I got about 8% off of invoice because I got more for my trade then I thought I would.

As Fonzie would say, "Exactamundo". When trading in a vehicle, you either get a lousy price for your trade, you get a lousy price for the new vehicle, or both. It's typically very difficult, if not impossible, to get a good price for your trade and a good price for the new vehicle.

Worst case is when people trade in a vehicle in which they are "upside down" (meaning they owe more than the vehicle is worth). Dealers are happy to pay off the trade-in vehicle and add the difference to your new vehicle loan. But oh boy, do those people pay for that in many ways.

When you see the "Push, pull or drag!" offers on TV where they promise to give you thousands of dollars for any clunker you trade in, they're just adding that amount to the new vehicle and by no means are they giving you any money for your clunker. In fact, you're paying more than you would if you had no trade because they're charging you for the hassle of wholesaling or disposing of your trade-in vehicle.

That is a heck of a discount. Congratulations. Was the JT a demo to get that steep of a discount?

Nope, 25 miles when I test drove, 45 miles after test drive, 46 Miles off the lot after they topped of my gas and gave it some tire shine :)

That is a great deal. Best discount I have ever heard of on a JT, JL or JK.

What did you do with that cherry Fiesta that you referred to in another post?

my local dealership has $6k off MSRP, regardless of trim level. on a Sport or Sport S, that's not a bad deal. on a fully loaded Rubi, less so. I checked what they had but none had what I am looking for, nor am I totally ready to purchase right now. regardless of deals.

These guys have gotten several folks in your area some good deals. I think they've all been orders though, it would be worth an email or phone call though.
