I know there are other threads, but didn’t see my specific question.

the LED headlights are great, but get snow/ice buildup. Rather than replace them I am going to add aux lighting that will help off-road, etc. I am looking at amber/yellow for snow visibility also.

so here’s my question: what LED auxiliary lights would not freeze up? I did some google searching and this doesn’t seem to be a common question. I am looking to stay at or less $300, I did see a set that said the lenses were heated but were $1000. If I need to up my budget that much, I may replace the OEM LED.

Afterthought, it's not so much the OEM headlights are LED as it is Jeep decided to recess them in a bucket. If they were flush with the grill it wouldn't be as much a problem.

If you find an LED Aux light you like that is convex, you won't see as much problem as you think.

Killed it right there. LED will pretty much have to have a heated grid or lens cover of some kind.
Halogen would work.
I did consider a set of halogen driving lights also. I am willing to go up in budget a bit, I just couldn’t justify 800-1000 at the moment.

KC halogens for Aux headlights.

Just remember, headlights have to be OFF if Aux headlights are on when ON PUBLIC ROADS.
I actually have a set of KC halogen 5” from an old truck I had that I thought about using for the just in case since I think the use will be rare.

My suggestion would be to try a big sheet of clear Lamin-X and cover the headlight so snow can't build up. I don't know what other effects there might be. I would also switch to Amber fog lights.

Are you looking for DOT approved lights or off-road lights?

DOT approved lights are a lot more challenging since the offerings are mostly fog lights which are today only good for very slow, low visibility driving.
Baja designs announced a DOT LP6 which should fit in the JT as an oem replacement. I’d imagine they will run much hotter. I know the LP6 pros won’t freeze over.
