Anyone know if it is possible to Line-X a bed that already has the factory mopar bedliner? Would Line-x be able to remove the mopar bedliner and spray in their product?

I want to get a Gladiator with all the options I want but they tend to have the Mopar bedliner, which is inferior to the aftermarket liners from what I’ve seen and read. What would probably sway me away from doing this at all is the fact that I’ve heard that there is often overspray with the Mopar liner in the gap between cab and bed anyway but haven’t been able to confirm. Can anyone corroborate this also?

I just had mine over at Line-x a month or so ago. I looked at one or two on dealer lots that had the factory bedliner and was glad I found one that didn't. With the factory it's rumored that they're isn'r a mechanical bond--it's just sprayed over the paint. IDK about that, but one thing I'm sure of is the appearance. I had Line-x apply the premium with the UV protectant. Even if you get a cover, spend the extra money. It has a smoother feel and comes off as a deep black with a little gloss. Compared with the flat black almost dark grey look of the factory liners, there's no doubt which is better. Line-X also has a product called "renew" that's sprayed over existing bed liners that they were advertising. I would call and ask about that.......

One more thing--If you go with Line-x, make absolutely sure you tell them to leave their "warranty tag" off of the bed. It's a big, goofy looking yellow 4" Line-x logo that they epoxy onto the bed liner after it's applied. They put up a bit of a fight, but when I told them that applying it was an absolute dealbreaker, they left it off........

I appreciate your response! I own a Gladiator with the premium line X and I agree it is way way better than factory bedliner. My factory order Gladiator was supposed to come with the Mopar liner but didn’t so Stellantis paid for Line X! And the installer was cool cause they left off the big Line X logo without me asking.

Unfortunately it got totaled earlier this month so I am now looking at gladiators currently on dealer lots to take advantage of the current discounts. It’s a pain sorting out the available trucks that DON’T come with factory bedliner, but the ones with the options I want typically come with it. I was wondering if I could just get one with all the options I want and get LineX to remove the Mopar liner before spraying. Hope this explains my question a bit better.

I watched how LineX preps a bed before spraying. They use a die grinder with a 36 grit disc to rough up the paint surface so that the spray will stick better. I don't know that will work on a liner that is already there.

fwiw I had the OEM bed liner in my 2020 and used the heck out of it without any issues. Not sure how hard you're beating up the liner but I never had an issue with mine. I have the linex liner in my ram now and the only difference I can see so far is the OEM liner was more grippy than the linex.

I have the factory installed bed liner. I've had the truck over four years with no issues. What makes the factory liner so bad that you would pay to spray over it?

I have to agree with Mr. Bill. I had the OEM Berliner in my 2020 LE. Kept it for 5 years using as a work truck and never had any issue with the bed liner. To say it was factory at the time was an misnomer. I believe that there was a third party in the Toledo area that actually sprayed in the liners.

Didn't have to tell my shop, hell they offered and did a good job not covering the holes for the trail rail system and all.

As for spraying over, why? If the problem is adhesion, this won't help. The new bedliner application will stick to the factory one and detach with it. Not saying the factory will, just that it won't help.

Once the liner is in, it is permanent for all purposes that matter. That renew package might help with the look and feel though and be good to check out later when it has been used a bit.
