Ok. The lockers, lock and unlock 2wd, 4H, 4L
it’s just saying it’s locked. I’m gonna look at the Tazer codes and see what it shows. If that doesn’t work, I’ll take it to my 4wd shop and let them have at it. No dealers please!!!!!
As stated above, your locker sensor inside the rear differential has failed. You have 2 options: 1) remove rear differential cover and replace sensor with Mopar part#68544629AA OR 2) purchase the Tazer Z-Locker controller which is installed outside the differential and will not require removal of the differential cover. Your shop will probably go over the pros/cons of each option.

The locker has not failed. Just the sensor. The locker still works fine. When it's locked the dash shows that.

Very easy fix. Took me under an hour. There was quite a buildup on the magnet, so it was worth taking it apart just for that reason. Ordered Mopar part#68544629AA which comes with 5 sensors. From my understanding they used different sensors on different vehicles, so it was easier to just send you all 5 then you go one by one till it works. Most people, including me, have gotten success with #1. Not sure if anyone knows if the other 4 have any value to save. Also is there a front sensor? I never hear of anyone who had to replace the front one if in fact there is one.

I’ve never heard of one either. Maybe not because I believe the sensor is to tell the front one that I can be locked within the Jeep computer realm. That’s why I prefer the aftermarket thing. Switch on which one I want when I want and not have to be told “Nu-uh” by a computer I paid for.

Check my original post in this thread...I plugged in all 5 sensors and they all appeared to clear the "Locked" light, so I kept them on my Jeep parts shelf. Yes, the front uses the same sensor. My guess is since the front has a FAD coupled with its limited use under load, there is very little wear on the gears and very little metal contamination in the lube.

The front diff doesn't generate the heat like the rear diff does. So that has something to do with no one reporting a bad front sensor.
