I had a 2020 max tow and its tow rating came from the small, light tires, lighter overall weight, plus 4.10s. When you put on big, heavy tires, it isn't max tow anymore. If you go too big, 4.10s aren't enough either. The allure of the max tow package for many of us comes from the presence of 4.10 vs. 3.73, plus the wider axles which make it easier to go to larger tires without rubbing. Consider why the Rubicon and Mojave models have lower tow ratings in spite of their 4.10s. It isn't mostly from the springs, it is probably more from the bigger tires that weigh 62 lb each instead of 34 lb. each and the ability of that little 220 cubic inch engine to drag around a heavy trailer. Just my opinion. . .
I agree that the difference in towing between a Max Tow and a Rubicon is trim etc.

My Mojave rides nice with 37 psi in the tires. It is noticeably harsher at 50 psi, the max for the C rated 285-70-17 Falkens.

Dang, I don't see any scenario where you would need to run them at 50psi on a Jeep Gladiator.

For some reason dealers want to pump up the tire pressure. My JT came with 48 in the tires. It rides much better at 36.

Besides the smaller/lighter tires, it also doesn't have all the weight of the steel bumpers and rock rails, but the other big difference is the stiffer rear springs compared to the Rubicon that allow for the higher payload (and harsher ride when not loaded).

You also get the higher rated payload/towing sticker in the door jamb that may or may not get inspected depending on what you attempt to tow and you have an accident and eagle-eyed insurance companies get involved.
