The 4xe has a 100,000 mile 80 month warranty on the high voltage batteries, etc.
You should be good to go then. I think jeep has a pretty good track record with battery's and having replacement parts in stock.

Only short drives in winter - 25 miles each way to her quilting friends homes. Usually once a week but not even that in the winter. Long drives are rare, 2 or 3 times a year, so quilt stores with her friends maybe into Missouri a ways, or over to the Amanas in Iowa.

We only did 20 mile round trips. I will again use the word hate.

@bleda2002 I believe has one as well.
Sounds familiar, thanks.
I can deal with most things - but my wife has questions I can't answer, and I have to account for her handicap (and our advanced age!) It's got to be her vehicle, and reliable.
First time she's stranded anywhere, I'm in deep doo-doo so deep a Cat excavator won't get me out.
She has never ever been stranded away from home with a Grand Cherokee. She just goes.

Does anyone here actually OWN a Wrangler 4xe?
Looking for real world experiences, first hand, not "I heard" or "it looks like.
Reliability?
Real-world fuel economy?
Battery life?
How far can travel on tank of fuel?
i think you’d be interested in the experience from @Thill444 hopefully he will chime in here. Alternatively you can go on the sister wrangler site where I believe I saw a write up from him which was pretty extensive. People seem to love or hate them.

I do have one for a year and a half and about 18k miles so far.

Reliability has been excellent other than the stock 12v took a dump on us. Picked up a new one from the dealer in the gladiator and swapped it over and off it went again.

Real world fuel economy is highly dependent on how you use it. My wife has a 20ish mile commute, she uses no gas most days unless she decides she wants to give it the beans. On the highway it gets 2.0 turbo gas mileage, aka it's not great but it's not worse than a regular wrangler either. For average around the city stuff we are in the high 20s to just below 30 depending on how much I give it the beans.

Battery life is again dependent but even on 37s we still get 20-22 miles per charge on just pure electric. On stock tires it was like 30 for pure electric. With it being a hybrid though just leave it in hybrid and enjoy 27-35 mpg for the majority of drives that are under 70 miles.

The tank of fuel is the only downside, it's not a huge tank at 17 gallons. How long this lasts you depends of course on use case, for highway on pure gas it's about 250-280 useable miles (aka not waiting for the light to refill), in the city ymmv.

I will say, if you are buying this as an ev with a range extender, you have the wrong idea, this is a hybrid with a big battery, it does it's best work left to it's own devices, especially in the winter. The FORM complaints come down to people wanting to run it pure electric and not wanting to buy the Mopar winter front. If the oil doesn't get hot enough it will eventually go in to form.

I'll also warn you that once you drive it, your jt will seem anemic. The power train when it's all lit up is amazing. So much pull at all speeds and it does it effortlessly

Gotta run, taking off for a couple hours but wanted to get in this:

That's what I was afraid of just seeing comments about the guts of electric, and I may end up making sure I never drive it so I won't feel, well, lacking.
And thanks for the honest comments.

The biggest turnoff for me with the 4xe is the placement of the batteries. I regularly put the rear seats down flat in my JKUR to haul things (a honda grom fits back there!). The rear seats do fold, but they don't go flat on the 4xe. It was a deal breaker for me.

Could you expand on this and provide some specifics?
I can, but will likely get raked over the coals. If you’re attempting to get a wrangler that gets better gas mileage, and you live anywhere with temps under 40 consistently in the winter, it’s garbage. The hybrid drivetrain puts more load on the ICE than it gets without it. The fuel and oil refresh prevents you from using electric at all if it’s even mildly cold. By the time you get 20 miles, which is the approximate warm weather range of pure electric, the oil isn’t warm enough to have allowed you to use the option. This is not true of all PHEV’s as we have another one that’s the same price, and allows pure electric all day in less than 10 degree temps. Your gas mileage on the 4xE will be worse than just paying 20k less for a wrangler with the 4cyl turbo alone. She should keep her grand Cherokee, or get another one. I’m excited to see the Jeep Recon pure electric, but until the 4xE drivetrain is completely rethought out, run as fast as you can.

Remember, people asked for real world experience, not hearsay. That’s what this is. Please refrain from telling me how much you like yours, especially if you live in a warm climate year round. It’s a great vehicle for torque, but sucks huge monkey balls as a PHEV. And it doesn’t have a big battery, is actually a very small kw battery compared to many competitors. Our Volvo xc60 Recharge PHEV costs the same money as a 4xE, and has much better capabilities for someone not going off road. It’s got no issue driving through a foot of unplowed snow, in electric mode. And if your wife likes her grand Cherokee, she’d fall in love with the xc60 in five seconds. 404 combined horsepower. 90 feels like 45.
